I'm working on a creatvie thesis (read "collection of short stories") in which I plan to include some basic line sketches. The sketches will come from photos I'm taking of the town I'm loosely basing my stories on. Most of these photos will be of places/buildings, some public, some private.

Do I need a Property Release Form (since they're being turned into line drawings), and if so, what needs to be included on it?

(I have found a lot of Release forms for Models, but don't plan to include people in these pictures---although I will have some generic Model forms with me, just to be safe.)

One last thing -- I'm hoping to submit the thesis for publication when it's all said and done...which is why I'm wondering about release forms.

Any and all help/hints/suggestions are greatly appreciated!

No, you don't need any release forms for a couple reasons:

1) The subjects in question are public places.
2) The work being printed is not for public release

However, if you plan to photograph any personal property (such as houses and such) it would be conciderate to get the owner's permission first. You don't have to, but it shows respect and concideration.

You can modify a model release form for property without any issues if you want to get legal permission, but again, this isn't required.

If they are sketches you do not need a release, you might modify a little and looks like "any place USA"
