Revelation 13 clearly describes the "beast coming out of the sea" as the Antichrist. It does this not by using the term Antichrist, but through portraiting the beast as Satan's counterpart to the authentic Christ, Jesus. The beast of the sea in Revelation13 is Satan's agent to make war against God's people. John portrays Rome as the beast from the earth. The beast from the earth, then, probably represented the temples and worship set up to worship the Roman emperor and the goddess of Rome, Roma - not a specific emperor. The term antichrist only appears in 1 and 2 John. There, John not only prophesies the coming of the Antichrist (2 John 7), he goes on to say that antichrists have already arrived and are now at work on God's people (1 John 2:18-20). They are false teachers, people who refuse to accept that Jesus is the authentic Christ. Did Nero support the teachings of Christ? That in itself is the true measure of his role as a false prophet or teacher.

Yes. Neron( Greek fo Nero) has a numerical value of 666 in Greek and in Hebrew, the language in which John was thinkng as he wrote his apocolypse, the numerical value is 616. It has long been debated whether the correct number is 616 or 666. Depends what language you are thinking.

There will continue to be debate on this subject. Nero was definitely anti (against) Christ(ians).
I do not think it is worth the time to think about who is or isn't the anti Christ.
The bible says we are to think on the things that are above and not on the things below. And.. Seek first the Kingdom of heaven, and all these other things will be added unto you.
If we are looking for God, most of the other junk we look for becomes useless.

Depends on how you mean it. Most prophecy in the Bible is of immediate interest to the people it was written to. The prophets weren't strictly talking about events that wouldn't be fulfilled for one or two thousand years. Who would care if a prophet came today and said 'America will fall apart in 2,000 years?'
Prophecy had an immediate meaning (e.g. Nero) and often had a distant meaning which 'completed' or 'fulfilled' or 'brought new meaning' to the prophecy (e.g. the final antichrist).

No,Nero was not "the" Anti-Christ. As far as the numeric value, that is up to speculation. Similar to the 'bible codes', anything can be looked at in a specific way to prove a theory. The 'Anti-Christ', as referred to in the bible, was 'suppose to rise up from the East'. There has been much speculation, as to who or if he has already been born---(Saddam Hussein) or the Ayatolla...but, most believe that, that individual either has not been born, yet, or, has not yet risen to power.

Nero lived close to the time that books of the Bible were being written so reasonable people could draw this historical reference/inferance. We must remember, however that History tends to repeat itself so there could be more AC's on the horizion.

The final anti-christ has not come yet, when that happens, many will be deceived into his superpowers he will possess, and many nations will follow him, before Christs return. Only the people who really are grounded in the word of God will know the difference.

Yes, Nero was one fulfillment of the anti-Christ, but that doesn't mean there can't be others (haven't studied it myself to know any more than that).
