I have heard that pectin affects positively the formation of cartilage and the haversion systems of bones. don't know if this is true but it would not hurt to try

you can prevent further bone loss, but at 61 rebuilding bone tissue isn't likely. Even the new medications out now, do not regenerate bone tissue in anyone over 50.
