1. It has only been in the last couple of years that the states and the federal government has sought to make a "definition" of marriage being between a man and a woman. It has been "assumed" by the law in every state of the union up until recently. Those who want to prevent gay marriage from being treated equal to straight marriage "defined" marriage over the last few years for their purpose. Until the right wing religious people made those changes, it would have been rather simple to "include" gay people in the current laws regarding marriage.
2. Traditional marriage is a ridiculous example of what should be or not be. I dismiss this argument if the person offering it believes divorce should be legal. In my opinion, if people vow to be together until death, they should keep their word. If the law recognizes this "vow" but they do not keep their side of the contract, there should be some penalty. Where am I wrong here?
3. Sin is the weakest argument against gay marriage. When ALL sinners are banned from making contracts in our society, then I might consider the sin of homosexuality being considered when discussing equal rights.
4. The only lives that would be effected by gay marriage are gay people's lives.
5. It isn't, of course, any of anybody's business what other people choose to do regarding their living arrangements/love lives. Only people who care more about "other people's lives" than their own think it's their business.
6. I'm almost to the point that I don't think government should be recognizing ANY marriages. If straight people want to go to a church/synagogue/whatever to proclaim <50% false> vows, that's between them, their spouses, and god. Why should the government be giving over a thousand special rights, privileges and protections to people based on a religious ceremony?

I am gay and it is only fair to allow gays the right to legally wed. Love is NOT about church or god, but heterosexual couples here are used to seeing weddings performed in a church by a pastor of some kind, and they can be ignorant. Oddly enough, when couples marry, it's often in church - but a divorce is done by law. There should be an option to marry by the state instead of religion for those who choose to omit religion, yet get the same marital respects and legal benefits. I am not a christian and gay is not a "sin" to me. And like you say, there's no good reason for anyone to try preventing a marriage between two adults in love (who are unrelated), no matter what anyone's beliefs are. This is simply because nobody has really thought much about it in the past, and now it MUST be considered because there are gay couples all over the world who want to get married. And why not? Lord knows gay peole won't screw up what marriage is about any worse than the heterosexuals have!!!

1. it doesn't
2. The tradition of marriage is a new thing, marriage use to be about property, Wife=property, and land ownership. This whole marriage for love thing is only a few generations old, if that.
3. I don't, I think all people who want to live together as a married couple, and be able to take care of each other if they get sick, or raise children together should be able to. Everyone should have to follow the same laws, and all couples should be able to be treated equally.
4. It might make me want to get married myself, right now marriage has no meaning to me if anyone in my situation cannot do it (in love with someone I plan on spending the rest of my life with)
5. I don't care what happends behind closed doors as long as it only involves consenting adults.
6. Marriage should either be recognized by the state with no religous rules or agendas, and anyone who wishes to do it can, or marriage should be a church only event and has no rights or privlidges other than for that church.

1) if God made a man and woman get married and condemed it other wise, do you agree with the omnipotent God who created marriage or not? The bible is clear and i dont think you will accept it. The facts are that men cant be moms and women cant be men, even if they have a sex change. You said "Regardless of whether or not homosexuality is a sin" well if you regard it as a sin then you wont condone it. God said its a sin and you cant change that fact. People have been perverting marriage from the beginning and will happen till the end of time, but God hated then and He hates the lifestyle now, not the people but the sin.

1) Marriage means what it means. "Civil Union" is a better Title.
2) It was instituted by God.
3) A "Civil Union" document is fine.
4) Gay & marriage is an oxymoron. The immiadiate affect is zero, but the long term affect on societyis the question.
5) It has become eveyone's business because they made it one.
6) I beleive that no Church should support a "gay mariage" as long as it claims to believe in God & that the Bible represents the Word of God.

Good questions....The religious people have a problem with gay marriage because they say it is not OK with god. But god says not to judge, so let them get married and if he has a problem with it let him sort it out in the end.

As a Christian, I answer with, there is no point in trying to prevent the marriages if we are going to allow straight people to remarry and remarry over and over again. The Bible warns against these things also.

because what the homosexuals do between them, cheapens the love between a man and wife. it is not love with homosexuals but lust.
2. Because by disobeying the Lord our God, they are provoking him to anger. Why should the rest of humanity suffer, because of their sins?
Have you not noticed the increase in plagues. Are they not making the commandment "honour thy father and mother, so that thy days may be long in the land the Lord thy God giveth you." have no effect.
It is a bad example for all future generations. Besides they do recruit, and I dont like them forcing it on my children that it natural it is not that is a lie in itself. It comes from Satan, who was a liar in the beginning.
If the state is God fearing why should it recognize same sex unions? Unless we have a state which is ungodly?

It doesn't affect anyone but the ones who would be getting married! I'm sure my hubby and I won't rush out to get a divorce just because gay people are getting married!

Gay marriage wouldn't affect me at all. I believe only people very insecure in their own would have a problem with gay marriage.
