The player is a libero! The libero is a player specialized in defensive skills: they must wear a different colored jersey and cannot block or attack the ball when it is entirely above net height. When the ball is not in play, the libero can replace any back-row player, without prior notice to the officials. His or her replacements also do not count against the substitution limit each team is allowed per set.
It's a good opportunity for teams to take out tall players or those not proficient at serve receive or defense. The libero can be an important aspect of any team's attack since good passes are pivotal to running plays and scoring!

The libero may function as a setter only under certain restrictions. If he makes an overhand set, he must be standing behind (and not stepping on) the 3-meter line; otherwise, the ball cannot be attacked above the net in front of the 3-meter line. An underhand pass is allowed from any part of the court.
Furthermore, a libero is not allowed to serve, according to the official rules.

The person wearing the different colored jersey is called the libero. the libero just runs in and out of the court for one player who dosent play the back row well. the libero cant serve or play front row. they can only go in and play back row.

that person is a designated back row player. they can only play in the back row. and can go in and out without an offical switch of players. they're important becasue they are specialized with digging up spikes and hard to get balls.

That's the "Libero," who does not have to follow the same substitution rules as everyone else.

That player is "specialist" and is brought in for certain reasons, usually defensive.
