My dog is 1 year old and he is always trying to chew his private part. Why.

Because it is itchy or irritated. If he goes on grass, that is likely the source of irritation (try sitting bare bottomed on grass)
You can mix douche powder with white Vaseline, until it makes a thick paste, and apply daily to the area..this will sooth the itching, and it has inti fungal and inti-bacterial ingredients, and will promote healing.

Are you sure he is "chewing"? Most male dogs will lick their privates. Why? Because it feels good. If your dog is actually chewing himself, get him to a vet. He may be in pain.

They itch. Ask a vet for some salve that will take away the itch and then show your dog how to apply it. Seriously, your the master, and thats one of the things you need to do for him. It doesn't make you a person into beastality, it just makes you a caring person.

He could have an internal infection that is causing him to itch. I would bring a urine sample into your vet.

please don't get disgusted, but mine did this all the time before he died. to put it bluntly he did it because it felt good. perfectly healthy dog, neutered. he just enjoyed the feeling.
