I live in a small town in NE AR.. we have water problems as well.. I wont drink the water out of the pipes unless it has gone through my water filter/pitcher. my parents keep one on their counter for room temp water and one in the fridge for cold water. my aunt the same.. we have all tried different things.. but these pitchers seem to be the best so far.. I dont have to replace the filters as often either.

I've been researching that subject a little myself. We have very limey water here and the filter does not take it out. but, according to the label, it does remove a lot of other chemicals. the activated charcoal filter is a chemical magnet. but, after a letter from and another couple back and forth to the water company, i am convinced that only the chemicals they have to report are reported. The filter may (I hope) eliminate at least some of these undocumented chemicals, just by attaching themselves to other molecules. but it still worries me that lime is not removed...it must be completely dissolved and unaffected by the activated filter...if lime is that way, gotta think other chemicals are too. But I really think filtered water is a whole lot better and healthier. I put beer through an old filter and got water that smelled like beer.

Honestly it depends on where you live, and how your water is.

Different places have different water standards. Little Rock, Arkansas for example has an awesome water plant and their water is actually bottled and sold.
But, St. Petersburg Florida's water sucks. My mom lives there and swears by her Britta.
I used to live in the Grand Canyon, and I used a PUR. It made a HUGE difference because the water sucked.
So, the worse the water that comes out of the tap is, the more of a difference you will notice.

I started with the pitcher and loved it. Too much trouble to go and get enough bottled water for tea, coffee, etc. Then we got the filter that goes on your faucet and it's fantastic. Our water in Phoenix tasted like chlorine and the filter takes care of that.

Probably so, if using it with faucet water, it could be very beneficial to you, just make sure to keep the filtration system clean and you should be OKAY!
