Watch a movie on your portable DVD player; work on your laptop; listen to some music on either your system or the one built into the airplane; read a newspaper/magzine or book; people watch those around you; take note of the flight path the plane is on and follow along with a map; see if you can identify any of the cities or landmarks you are flying over; work a crossword puzzle or sudoku puzzle; take a deck of cards and play two handed card games; check out the in-flight magazine in the seat pocket ahead of you; consider what you are going to say and act to those that are meeting you at your destination; reflect upon the past ten days of your life generate scenarios where you can make yourself into a better person; take a text book or similar educational material to read relative to your next year in school; do some planning for your future; begin a journal of your trip / adventure. The list is almost endless.
Three hours is not really a long plane ride. Transcontinental flights to Asia are usually 12 hours or more. Most everyone has heard of and wishes to visit Hawaii some time. It is a 5 hour flight from the west coast. If you leave from the midwest, it is 8 - 10 hour flight and even longer from eastern cities.

That's not a long trip at all. So just bring a book or magazine to read, and/or a video game, and/or a MP3 player. The flight may have a movie for you. Bring some snacks, the airline will give you soft drinks and water, but that little bag of pretzels will only make you hungry and mad.

That isn't that bad of a trip... I travel with High School Students to Europe every summer. They tend to read books, play cards, listen to music, watch the movie on the plane, crosswords. What are the things that they would like? Did you ask them? They are teens, so chances are they may be the ones to ask.

for $10, many airlines rent dvd players; watch movies, tv shows, etc; bring along a laptop; books; HOMEWORK (yeah, forget that); just don't act loud and stupid.
