Sit down and talk with her. Discuss the things that you would wish her to do. As a reminder, post a list of these things on the fridge. Give her points for everything that she does. At the end of the weeks, if she has total points equalling 75% of the things on the list. (You can change the percentage if your wish), give her a reward. Ice Cream at Mickey D's or something inexpensive like that.

Rewards, rewards. Make a schedule for her work as part of the family, and have rewards after periods of time and jobs well-done. Don't bribe her with money, but come up with creative rewards that will let her know her work is appreciated--activities you can do together, favorite meals, having friends over for movie night, etc.

You need to teach her to do chores. This will help her later in life in doing real jobs. Talk to your husband (the father) before you talk to your step daughter and insure you have his support.

Always make sure you let her know how much you honestly do appreciate her help... & when she does help, make sure to reward her with something, even if it's just bragging on her a lot.
