My maine coon is very smart. My kids and I taught him to play fetch and he'll sit on command. We saw a cat leash at Petco and now we take him on walks. People are always amazed when they see him behaving on a leash. Does anyone else take their cat for walks?

My cat is not fond of wearing a collar never mind a leash, but I have a neighbour who takes her cat out on a leash all the time. And my mom used to have a cat that she took out on a leash regularly. It's not common, though, so heads will turn.

I haven't taken my cat out on the leash but I cant wait to. He is a very obedient cat and gets along well with is dog brother I would love to take them out together. How did you know that your cat was ready to be walked outside?

My grandma takes her cat out on a leash because she (the cat) likes to go out but gets attacked by the other cats in the neighborhood if out alone.

I don't own a cat, but I wish ALL cat owners would. I have a cat on my porch that will not go away. Later today I am going to write a note on it's flea collar with a sharpie to the owner asking them to feed the skinny thing and leave it some water. It comes to my porch to drink the water in the drip pans from my plants so obviously it is thirsty. And it sits and cries at the door, I really think you should come get it and feed it.

I tried with my cat but she wouldn't walk like a dog does. All she did was walk then stop then turn around then sniff around. It was too difficult for me so I quit trying. But I think its really cool that your cat will walk on a leash! Wish mine would....

I sure wish mine would. I tried with one and I thought she was going to kill herself trying to get back inside the house.
I am afraid that if I did have one on a leash and a strange dog came around, it would be so frightened that it would wriggle out of the harness and I would never see it again.

My mom use to have 14 pound tabby that we use to take out side on a leash. He always wanted to go out and he was a house dog but we didn't want him to run off. He loved it.

So my answer is YES

I have the same kind of cat, we also taught him to fetch and sit, lol. We haven't walked him in a while but we used to.

No, my cat is an indoor cat only. He freaks if there's a loud noise while he's lying on the window seal, I think he would be too overwelmed going outside.
