Kids can't make choices like that until they understand the world. Maybe age 14ish and older can. Religion should always be a choice, but not until you've lived a little.

I've never really gone to church and Ive turned out fine so far...if the kids dont want to go then u as a parent can teach your kids how to be good people without having to exactly incorporate religion into it if thats what they're problem is-you dont have to be religious to be a good person adn to do what is right!=D

Depends on the age!!! when a child gets to be the age where they start to question their religion and are serious about it not just a way to get out of church than i believe that we as parents should honor that choice!!
there is nothing wrong with questioning your religion it is part of the growing up process!!!

I think they should still go to church with you until they are out on their own. Your house, your rules and they need to know what is important to you and respect you and what you believe. When they get out on their own they will have plenty of opportunity to explore. During the teen years, children ( young adults) are very acceptable to all sorts of ideas, especially from peers. If you want them to follow in your foot steps, and respect you then stay the course, but also discuss different religions and what aspects does your teen find interesting. Use this as a time to get to know your child's inter workings.

If they are just saying that they don't want to go just so they don't have to sit there, then no. I think it is important not to push your kids into religion. However, you can't just not give them any direction at all either. I hated going to catholic church as a child, I wanted to try different religions and see what they were like, but my parents wouldn't let me. Children need to be passionate about what they believe in or they may just believe in nothing.

No, they shouldn't have the choice of not going... just the same as they shouldn't have the choice of being free to decide to>>> go out & rob a bank.
They aren't experienced/wise enough yet, to make the best choices, on their own.
A good church can help build good character.

Not until they are 18 or older. If they are living under your roof, they should abide by your rules. If they are 18, they are considered an adult in the eyes of the law, so they should be able to make that decision for themself.
