Some cats will not use the litter box if they are stressed, and this cat of yours sounds very stressed. Your cat needs your help, she is obviously suffering if she has an open wound. You need to get those fleas taken care of NOW. My neighbor had a cat that he had to put to sleep because the fleas ate it alive and it got an infection. Take her to the vet ASAP. You may need to get your house professionally exterminated, too - flea bombs DON'T kill the eggs in the carpet. They will hatch after you bomb, and you are right back at square one. I know because we went through this two years ago. It was awful. It can take up to six weeks to completely rid your house of fleas, due to the life cycle of the flea. It cost us a bundle to get it done, but we haven't seen a flea since.

The urinating outside it's box is in direct relation to the frustration the cat is going through I'm sure.
I know that as humans we can only assume to know what the animal is feeling based on their behaviours, but it's a connection.
As for the flea's.........flea collars unles specifically label organic can be toxic and not a good thing. The drops can be a good thing provided there's on allergy. Most of all it sounds like your cat is allergic to flea bites. When a flea bites into the cats' flesh it uses (for lack of a better word) "saliva" and that is one of the most irritating things for the cat, as well as it is what often times causes an allergic reaction.
Use the flea powder, as well wash any linens the cat may sleep on. Since the life span and incubation period of a flea is a relatively short one, this will mean diligence and some hard work on your part. Make sure to get the cat to the vet for a check up.
As well, consider shaving the cat till it's healed, that as well will help you gain a foothold on the problem.
Good luck to you.

I can't help you with your litter box question but as far as the flees go... there is a carpet powder that should kill the flees in the house. (I assume that the cat is an indoor only cat if she uses a litter box.) I don't know if I would continue to use the flee drops on the cat if it's leaving a mark on her skin. You could try a different brand. Also try calling your vet for his / her suggestions on getting rid of the flees.

Cats are naturally clean animals. They hate to go into a dirty smelly box. Make sure it is clean. Try using 2 instead of 1. If you have more than two cats you should use a good litter also. When I had 2 mother cats and their 8 kittens in the house. I used only 2 boxes. They started using the one for pee and one for poop. Cats are all different though, but I doubt the fleas are causing the litter box behavior. Hope everything works out for you and your cat.
Cats tend to be very fussy about their litter boxes, and the correct placement is of extreme importance. Obviously, you don't want a litter box in the middle of your living room or in the kitchen next to the cat's food dishes. If the litter box is moved too much or/and too close to the food bowls, that could be a reason.

Last year my beautiful Manx cat Theodore went out for the evening and never came back. I love cats and the house didn't feel the same without one, so I picked up Lola from a rescue centre. She was very frightened and would pee all over the house. I found Cat Spraying No More on the internet and the techniques worked almost immediately. I haven't had a problem with Lola since. Amazing!
Can't stop your cat peeing in the house? Then worry no more...

flea collars do not work and the medicine you buy from the store does not either. I was using frontline plus which really works but my one cat itched from it and lost fur at the site I put it. I switched to revolution which also gets rid of worms and heartworm and no itching. get the medicine off of her by giving her a bath just regular soap will kill fleas and get her clean, flea bath stops working as soon as they dry so why add more medicine, and switch to a vet recomended product you can buy them online. if fleas are real bad take her out of the house and bomb the house with flea bombs, petsmart has a good selection of those. I have found that peeing is emotional in my female cat, I can not fight with my boyfriend or she will go pee on his things. if she doesnt feel well she will do it too, she will go on a pile of clothes or a plastic bag. She is 7 and does this once in a while. get rid of the fleas and she will be fine, if you see a single flea on her then the meds do not work that you have. They should be dead within hours not days by the way.

Your kitty needs to go to the vet ASAP. Since nothing has changed, she may be trying to let you know something INSIDE has changed. Cats who normally use their boxes won't alter that unless there's a reason. She may have a UTI (or worse) that's causing her pain with elimination. Therefore, she could be associating the litter box with the pain and trying to go elsewhere to avoid the pain. Between the elimination in places other than normal, and the flea bites/skin problems, she definitely needs to go to a vet. It COULD be a reaction to the flea killer, so you might be poisoning her in some way. You must take her to a vet ASAP!

i would take her to the vet and see what they say about the flee killer you are using, may be a bath would help also but make sure shes not allergic to it first, you might have to have a professional take care of her flee problem, they will probably shave her fur off and give her a good flee bath.

it ought to in part be that the previous proprietor had a cat that went in places besides a muddle field. thoroughly spray a product designed to discourage her new habit everywhere that she has already lengthy gone after thoroughly cleansing the parts with a product designed for this purpose (puppy shops have both in inventory). Then be particular that you sparkling the muddle field very frequently. if you're having a situation which includes her moving into flowers, placed rocks with hard surfaces on excellent of the airborne dirt and dirt to discourage digging (they have a tendency to dig beforehand going). Praising her for solid habit is a might want to each and every time she does pass contained in the field - this might want to be executed interior of moments or she will be able to imagine that is for something else. If all else fails, as she is digging or squatting you could spray her with a small water gun (only a TINY shot - no longer a flow) as a contact no longer to pass there... do exactly not enable her see you do it. That defeats the lesson and turns the ill feeling in the route of you rather of the incorrect habit. Is she able to get to the muddle field in any respect cases? She may no longer be feeling properly nevertheless after being neutered if it replaced into modern, and so may no longer be able to make it to the muddle field right this moment. you may favor to attempt to save her interior a similar room because the field for somewhat. proper desires.

Have your house deflead by a professional company..take the flee collar of they don't work, and she could choke herself..bye a cat flee comb and comb her.. If you used a detergent in her liter box, or sprayed it with something, she will stop using it..
The flees are really bothering her, this is her way of telling you...don't think you need to take her to the vet, he will tell you what I just told you, if it is the fleas, and it really does sound like it.
