No,
A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. do not disappear in adulthood. Scientists thought it did but they now know that that idea is wrong. Adults' symptoms change and get less noticable.
Medication works for many in varying degrees.A lot for many and barely at all for a few. For most A.D.D. is a lifelong struggle. It is a positive asset for a lucky few and a curse for the majority.
New drugs are being develpoed as pharmaceutical comapnies realize how prevelant the problem is.

ADHD cannot be "cured" per say. With consistent use of medication some or hopefully most of the symptoms can be controlled. Depending upon the severity of the behavior ranges you are experiencing ..some choose to not medicated and others cannot do wihtout it. I a perfect world it would be the hope that you would get just the right dose and just the right meds for your particular brain patterns...unfortunately it has not been discovered yet ..how to detect what each person needs and so meds are trial and error. The good thing is that SOME people seem to outgrow ADHD ...but some do not. It is unknown if the people who seem to "outgrow" ADHD have infact "outgrown" it or have simply been able to incorporate coping mechanisms within themselves to control the undesired behaviors defined by society as they grow. I have a child 28 years old who is just starting to function well and a 10 year old grandson who is already off medication and seems to be doing very well without it...I guess there is no black and white awnser to give you. Ihope this helps out somewhat and good luck to you.

No. Consistent use of medication will help reduce the symptoms of ADHD but can't make it disappear. If medication alone isn't working then talk to your doctor about other possibilities. You could also trying getting an ADHD coach or seek out counseling. These things can all be done in conjunction with the medication.
I was 19 1/2 and a college sophomore when I found out. When I started taking medication it helped me tremendously. I even made it onto the honor roll the next semester. The only reason I had even looked into ADD/ADHD was because my brother (who is now 16) had been diagnosed with the semester before.

your ADHD is something that shouldnt be drugged, and seen as a flaw....hoping that it will go away!!! Ummm No, it wont it will just help you focus more when you take it....depending on what you beleive you can say that...by continuously taking lets say ADDERAL everyday, for lets say a year, it could help train/rewire/reframe...or whatever your brain to think/work/focus more . You have to put forth the effort though to practice concentrating though......Read THE GIFT OF ADHD by:Lara Honos-Webb, PH.D.(that will change your attitude about adhd).... and look up ThOmas Eddison, Thomas jefferson, Andrew Carnegie..and many more they all Suposedly had it, and they were geniuses........::::(A.D.D joke)::::: HEY how many ADD kids does it take to screw in a light-bulb??? ....... No, a lot of people who don't know they are ADHD. I was 28 before I was diagnosed. My neighbor's son is ADHD and he refuses to believe it, so that poor child will not get treated unless Children's Services takes him away from him.

i think you are born with it, but you may outgrow the symptoms or by learning to manage it. some people can manage it by just knowing that is why the way they are and learning organizational skills to help themselves. there is a book called Driven To Distraction (sorry forgot author) that can help you manage with or without meds. ( they kinda make you feel jittery anxious and irritable sometimes.......)
