torbaynewfs is right. The lower quality the food, the more poop you'll have to clean up. Usually, the cheaper the food, the lower quality it is because it's cheaper to use the throw aways of human meat products, but this is not always the case. Whatever factories can't use for humans, whether it's because of what part it is or because it was deemed inedible by humans, will end up in poor quality food. Purina Dog and Puppy Chow, Pedigree, Ol Roy, and especially Kibbles and Bits and anything made by Diamond Pet Foods is what you should mainly stay away from. All of those are almost completely made from corn fillers, meat-by-products that are non-human grade, etc. Kibbles and Bits is also loaded with a ton of sugar that'll wreck your dogs' teeth in no time. Diamond Pet Foods was also involved in a law suit where a lot of dogs who ate their food died as a result of it. I can't remember exactly what it was, but there was something in the food that killed them. Not all of the dogs died or even exhibited signs of illness, but ask yourself, are you really willing to take that chance and risk losing your dog, just to save a couple of dollars? Even if he/she only gets sick from it, you'll just end up spending the money that you saved on vet bills that could've been avoided if you had spent that money to buy higher quality food in the first place. The best I've seen (and I've seen a TON!) are Natural Balance and Nutro Ultra. Both of these use only the highest quality ingredients and are all natural. However, with 3 dogs to feed, it may get a bit too expensive. Royal Canin and Eukanuba are less expensive, but still of pretty good quality. Use Purina One if you must go with your average dog food. Use Pro Plan and Iams only if you MUST.

Puppies don't need a specially food made just for puppies. High quality foods typically don't differentiate between puppy and adult dog food because dogs of all ages need good nutrition. Some people feed their dogs only raw meats and vegetables, others cook chicken and rice for their dogs every day. If you're like most people, you might be looking for an easier option - dog kibble. Check out the ingredients on the dog food label. Avoid foods with corn, byproducts, and the words "meat" or "poultry" (specific meats or poultry should be labeled, so you know what it is!). Chicken meal or Lamb meal is great, however, as a first ingredient.

Here's a great website where you can compare kibble ingredients: http://www.mordanna.com/dogfood/

Ol' Roy sucks and so does puppy chow. Ever heard of "Garbage in, Garbage out"????? Feed cheap crappy food and that is what you get....crap!!!!! Those cheap foods have a TON of corn and they poop it all out!!! Corn is a filler and not very digestable at all. So, you will pick up WAY more and they will need to eat WAY more to grow!!!!!!!!
A more expensive food may be cheaper in the long run!!!

Keep in mind the age and breed of your puppies. There are foods made for large breed and small breed pups. You also can choose between dry and canned. Using canned on into adulthood can lead to very bad teeth so I suggest getting them used to hard food.

Either Iams puppy food or Diamond puppy food ( you can get this at your local feed store). They are both great foods Diamond is just cheaper and it helps them gain weight a little better.
