Yes and no. Most women that are resented for having authority are using their authority to intimidate and to control the people around them. They are getting a kind of revenge from the way they were treated. This isn't all on the women either. Men do it too. But a higher percentage of woman do it because they feel that they are getting looked down upon by the men. It works less for men obviously because they don't feel that.
Its harder for woman in the military obviously but that is no reason to act like a prick. Man or woman if you show that you can do that job and do it well, I'll folow you. I don't care, I just don't wanna get my @ss shot off because you feel its necessary to show that you are in charge and you can make whatever decision you want.
my 2 cents...

Its not the authority- as it itself has not gender, but rather it is the attitude of that individual that is resented.
If the person is compitent and fair, others will follow that person.
If the person is overbearing and has a superiority complex, that person will be resented by those in their control...
Yes, many males in the service may resent female authority, but often it goes back to how that female is using her authority...
And the reverse it true also with females and male authority figures...

Only if the "service man" has had a problem with female authority before entering the service. Men in the military understand, that there will be a female C.O. from time to time. They also understand, that these woman have a job to do,and are not there to intimidate men. (Note) When my son went to Fort Leonard Wood,in Missouri,to train in the Army National Guard,he e-mailed me a few times, about a certain female C.O. that was giving him "trouble". I explained to him, that this woman was doing her job,and was not "picking" at him. He had to follow strick orders, and everything would be fine. When I met her at his Graduation, she was just a normal everyday person. My son realized that it was ok,for woman to be "Boss".

It is interesting that those who answered yes have little or no military experience. Those of us who have served know that both officers and enlisted people take an oath to fight and die if need be for our country. Moreover, we also take an oath to obey the lawful orders from our commanding officers whether they are a woman or man. The bottom line for a leader is whether or not they are competent, fair, and willing to learn both from experience and their subordinates. Gender discrimination like racism has no place in the service. Those who are prone to think in such a manner should think about a different type of occupation. Today's military has little "tolerance" for misogynists or other such "thunk" thinking.

That is a tough question. I would say no. Most army men will do whatever they ar e told by higher authority. They might resent it, but wont show it, they will just ***** about it behind their backs.

No more than men anywhere do. I had 122 men answer to me, a few years back - some had a problem with it & others did not care who their boss was.
