our foster dog will sit quietly with my mother(older woman) and then later she will bark growl and attempt to jump on her. She is a mix beagle/rat terrier who was originally a stray. We would like to keep her but we can not if there is nothing we can do. She is about 14 months old approximately. She has never even when we first saw her in the shelter had any of these behaviours to me or my kids.
any suggestions?

Most likely your dog has prior experince with older women. Most likely your mother is harmlessly doing some action that is setting your dog off. The dog will most likely get over it in time. You might try and have your mother feed the dog special treats every so often. Be sure that you let the dog know this is unacceptable behavior both verbally, and physically. (IE tell it no, and put it outside or in it's crate.)

One of my stepmother's dogs had problems with young blond girls. He grew to tolerate her, but never was comfortable with her friends.

Dogs are like us, sometimes they see something they don't like in certain people. They are like children and often see things we don't. Or perhaps, your dog is reminded of another older lady that did something bad to him.

Some one in your home is slap full of satan. Get a priest to exercise the demons and all will be well.
