What the Bible says about Religious Tolerance

Deuteronomy 13:6-10
If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you, nigh unto thee, or far off from thee, from the one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth; Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die.

2 Chronicles 15:13
Whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Very interesting question. First, do not lump all atheists into one stereotypical category. Obviously, every group of belief system will have intolerant and radical views. But is atheism inherently intolerant? NO. Are a lot of atheists intolerant? Yes, sometimes. Everyone thinks that they know what is right, relating to after death or the supernatural etc. But noone actually knows what is right, or at least KNOWS for sure that they know they are right, you just CANNOT know. So everyone expresses what they THINK might be right, and in some ways it may appear intolerant or other views. Some of the quotes you used from the Bible almost come across as being intolerant. "Whosoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel should be put to death." I do not know what your personal view would be, but following this literally would cause non-believers to cite you for hatred or promoting violence. I don't see it that way. Though I don't believe that statement is true either. So to answer your question, some people on Yahoo answers (believers or non-believers) can be guilty of these things.

Yes they are, and eventually the Lord will take vengeance on those that hate him..

Rom 12:19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.

Joel 2:11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
Joel 2:12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
Joel 2:13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
Joel 2:14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God?
Joel 2:15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly:

Do you just post this to get us to read bible verses?

Yes, we're guilty of intolerance. As God said to Moses: "What goes around, comes around." So I post on Yahoo Answers because that's What Jesus Would Do.

The "god" of the Old testament was a spoiled, attention wanting bully. And the "god" of the new testament was a barely there, neglectful father who is still spoiled and a bully. If he was real back then, he has died, moved away, or found a new planet to torture.

You DO realize the bible is a work of FICTION, right? Following the "bible" on anything to do with personal interaction is akin to believing that evil clowns live in the sewers or that Jesus has a great-great-great-great-great-great-great-granddaughter.
