I HAD ECT TREATMENTS BACK IN 1994 - 10 ROUNDS. I DID RECEIVE SOME TEMPORARY RELIEF, HOWEVER I HEAD ACHES AND MEMORY LOSS I SUFFERED FROM THEM IN MY OPINION WERE NOT WORTH HAVING THE PROCEDURES DONE . IF I HAD TO CHOOSE AGAIN I WOULD NOT HAVE THE TREATMENTS. THE GOOD NEWS IS I DID FINALLY GET STABLE AND HAVE STAYED THAT WAY SINCE 1997 WITH THE HELP OF ON-GOING MEDACATION USE AND THERAPY. THERE ARE NO QUICK FIXES FOR DEPRESSION .IT REQUIRES A LOT OF HARD WORK TO GET WELL AND STAY STABLE. GOOD LUCK.

When I had my first manic attack after a psychological trauma , they gave me ECT therapy like couple of times. They told my mother that it was for a short term memory loss which could effect me by my subconscious in the future.Don't know if it worked, but I have heard couple of side effects that ECT"therapy causes. And the most common is weakened memory.

Never, personally, but had several clients that had ECT. It was popular and overused years ago.

But it is now back in favor with some Psychiatrists. ECT can cause disorientation, hopefully temporarily. One man I know (he's not my client) says that it works well for his depression and his voices.

Good luck and GOD bless.
