First of all thank you for visiting this question. Now coming back to the point, almost all of the mankind is after peace or happiness. Differentiate between the two. Or do you believe that both are one and the same? Please put forth your views in detail. And I request everybody to keep in mind that this is not a religious question, so please exclude the topic of religion and religious books. I thank everyone in advance. Good luck to you all.

Seems to me that everyone has had a happy moment or two and most would agree that it was due to the outcome or end result of some situation that we were concerned about. Reasonably then , we can assume that happiness can be sought or contested. The deep thinkers and witch doctors who concern themselves with happiness believe that considering multiple possibilities or outcomes for any one situation and focusing on the desirable ones influences the final outcome of any quandary or problem. They call this possibility thinking - positive thinking. Pursuing this theory with monastic dedication results in more and more positive results and soon the entire aura of life around you becomes brighter and more satisfying and the realization sets in that life is good , I am happy!
Entwined with this "possibility thinking" is the mental status known as peace. I believe peace to be a product of righteousness and justice. The application of possibility thinking to your life with a keen, philosophical judgment of honest , moral, charitable, loving results for yourself and others generates a buffer zone around your life immune from contention and criticism that brings the feeling of being hunted and pursued to a close. You become inconvenient company for people who rationalize moral decisions or criminal activity and a protective gulf opens between you and the dark side of human existence thereby eliminating sources of negative thinking and circuitiosly enhancing the power of possibility thinking and its influence on happiness. Peace out!

The only true peace is death. Happiness in all perspective on who you are. I am happy when I have an enemy to fight, something to conquer, but that surely is not peace. What makes you happy may not make the next person happy. Peace is the end of the struggle of life. That is why there can never be peace on Earth while people live on it, someone always has to be fighting or struggling from something, because this is what makes some people happy. The only day true peace on Earth will be achieved is when everyone on it is dead.

Some that have been at war for a very long time may become happy because of peace. Others, who are repressed by their current government may be made angry by peace.

You can be happy for a number of reasons, some of them not so peaceful. A divorce can make you happy.

I guess I believe that happiness is a state of mind that can be caused by many factors (peaceful and aggressive).

Peace to me as an absence of aggression or stress. Peace is usually a physical state of being, that can bring different emotions. It can be a state of mind, but it also may or may not bring happiness.

Happiness is related to lifestyle. That is why when there is more of materialistic gains you become happy.
Peace is related to you spirituality and spirituality is connected directly to your life. It doesn't take into account the material gains and losses. A peaceful person doesn't need happiness, wheras a happy person needs to satisfy his wants again and again, so that his happiness will last forever.

The final point is Happiness is temperory. Peace is again based on the choice of humans. If a person wants to be peaceful he can be peaceful for all his life but happiness will pass.
Hope this helps
Have a great day.

Ok here goes... I am not always happy due to certain circumstances, but even in those circumstances I may have peace, which is like a calming in the spirit, faith that I will overcome whatever it is. I can be happy and not have peace. I could win the Lotto and be happy and excited but my spirit be unsettled because I might be affraid of what will happen after. Peace is basically rest. Even when it is bad, your heart is not troubled.

I do not believe peace and happiness are the same although could coincide. Happiness is a state of mind, but the intensity varies, and is affected by events, circumstances, or environment. Peace is a consistently content existence, centered inside you and unaffected by external factors.

Happiness is the feeling that all is well in the world.

Peace is knowing that everything's going to be okay, even during hard times.

Peace, in my mind, is knowing that there are things out there that you can't change and just make up your mind to forget the negativity and be "at one" with yourself; happiness is a direct result of the peace you have within you....

I will use a personal example:
Right now, I am working on a particularly challenging work assignment. So, I would not say that I am "happy". "Happiness" is down time with my best friend, etc.
However, I would say that I am "peaceful". I have an inner calm despite the temporal stresses that surround me.
