Should illegal immigrants be put in jail? You tell me. There are between 12 and 14 million of illegal immigrants in the U.S. There are about 3 million of prison inmates in the U.S., and prisons are overfilled already.

Are illegal immigrants criminals? You tell me. Under the current U.S. law, illegal immigration is a misdemeanor, like driving above speed limit or drinking in public, and a lesser offense than DUI or failing to stop for a school bus.

Should illegal immigrants be sent back where they came from? Is it really worth the trouble? Say, it takes 10 man-hours to work a deportation (this is a ridiculously low estimate, but let's stick with it anyway). Deporting 12 million illegal immigrants, therefore, will require 120 million man-hours. The entire USCIS staff (including contractors) is 15,000, which means the service's annual time budget is about 30 million man-hours. So even if the entire USCIS does nothing but deportations (which, among other things, means no foreign students in U.S. universities and no foreign investors with fat pocketbooks), it will take at least four years to deport every illegal immigrant...

US immigration laws were put into place to protect lawful citizens and lawful immigrants from criminality and disease. Most other countries do not have innoculation requirements such as exist in the US. In order to lawfully migrate, they must show proof of or submit to innoculation against disease, as well as showing a complete criminal history.

Many of my clients are illegal immigrants from Mexico and they have criminal tendancies and histories that would scare most law-abiding citizens. Murder, sexual and violent acts, high end drug trafficking... What do they do when things get too hot in Mexico? They come to California, where even if they get locked up in jail, it's not like a Mexican jail... here they're "entitled" to 3-hots and a cot... for as long as their sentence lasts.

As a nation, we need to lean on our immigration laws and assure they are honored by all who wish to enter our country. If people cannot meet the criterion, then they should not be allowed to enter. Period.

Just out of curiousity...theres what probably millions of "illegals"

So where are you going to put them in jail? How are you going to find them? Wouldn't it cost more to send them back then to leave them here? And won't they just come back over?

We can't even build a wall to keep hurricane flooding out of new orleans. How are we going to build a wall that spans the entire border?

If they are wearing yellow shirts call ICE immediately. They are criminals and you are right to believe that they should be sent back. Why do so many support slave labor anyway? It is inhumane to allow that to continue in America at least.

I think labor camps would be appropriate. Once the work they perform in the camp exceeds the cost of what their illegal stay has cost the US government, then they should be deported.
