When my husband and I go camping for a week-end or on vacation our cat is fine but when we get home he pees and poops on the floor. What should I do?

Sounds as if your cat is irritated with something you or your husband are doing. Cats are very intelligent and very tempermental. If your cat does not like something or someone, they will generally act out in one way or another as you have described. I had a himalayan that despised my step mom, so she would poop on her dining room table, every day, same spot, same time. My step mom made me get rid of her. Wasn't the cats fault, she just didn't like my step mom, and neither did anyone else for that matter. Trace your steps and see what is going on at the time your cat acts out, is the same time every day? Is it during a certain time or when you are in a particular room?

I had this similar problem and the way i controlled it was to clean up the mess and take a liquid called miracle cure you ccan find in any pet stor and wipe that area clean. the cat will smell that stuff and not want to use that area again. If this continues throught the rest of the house, take his.her kitty box and clean it out and spray it down with water to get the old oder out and see if that makes a difference. I have noticed that when a cat does his/her business outside the kitty box they do not like the smell inside the box so they go somewhere else to do it. See if this will help you.

It sounds like your cat is having seperation anxiety. Is he overly excited and clingy to you when you get home? Sometimes cats can't go to the bathroom unless they are comfortable and content. For ex. a stressed out cat will not eat and therefore will not go to hte bathroom. I would look into getting him a lil friend.

Maybe he is punishing you for leaving him at home. I think cats hold grudges. My Dads cat used to unroll all the toilet paper when Dad upset him.

Your cat is mad at you for leaving! It's normal actually as cats are very emotional and demonstrative

He is upset with you for leaving him all alone! That's their way of showing you this. Could you maybe have someone "babysit" for you in your house when you leave next time?
