As one, I feel that it is ok to be gay and do not feel that it is a disorder. But inside I feel that the purpose for life is to reproduce and go one and so on. It is what keeps the world going. What would happen if everyone stopped having children? But as messed up as this world is, I would not want to bring children into this world. Cause by the time they get to retirement there will be no such thing or if they get sick or something, there will be no help for them. There are lots of babies being born that are unplanned and for all the wrong reasons. This guy will never reproduce. I'm gay and I have to make the best of it and not worry about that society saids it is wrong and I'm living in sin. If I let that get to me then I have no reason to live any further, so just have to be happy and make the best out of the life I was handed. I'm not a man that thinks he is a girl. I'm very much happy being a male.

Indeed, homosexuality is NOT in the DSM any longer - but it was only removed a few years ago as a disorder, and was not removed by the same process and scrutiny that other illnesses are normally removed. It was fast-tracked out of the DSM and removed swiftly, out of political correctness. That is very telling.
It could be a disorder, genetic predisposition, or just a product of environment. I don't think we'll ever know for sure.
(In the interest of full disclosure, I am gay as springtime...and I don't really care what causes it...)

I am not gay but I think that being gay is a choice of life that a person makes ...you don't like fish so you eat sausage thats a choice not a mental disorder

Many of my gay friends and my gay son have told me they were born gay. One lady I know says that she became gay from being abused by her husband. Some geneticists say it's caused by a gene, some neurologist say that straight brains are different from gay brains, some say it's caused by early experiences. For me the most important thing is to accept the people you love for whom THEY are and not for whom they are attracted to. Sorry but I'm not gay. I just talk to a lot of people, and read a lot. I'm a retired psychotherapist.

it's a totally normal sexual attraction to members of the same sex. It's not in the ICD10 or the DSM classifications of mental disorders, therefore, neither Europe nor America defines it as a mental ilness.

I don't think it's a mental disorder...some people are just attracted to people who have the same body parts as their own.
