I'm 26 yr old mexican american without friends of any kind, so no mexican friends. my spanish is baaaad, although others assume it is good just because i'm hispanic. So anyway, i live in usa.. but i just don't have any spanish speaking friends. Seems all mexicans are outgoing and talkative and i'm just a dumb quiet person. I feel they thiinnnk i'm stupid. so what to do?

- Practice at home, with your family.
- Watch TV and movies in spanish.
- Get mexican friends online.
In addition to that, you could contact me and I could help you on msn. I live in Mexico and I speak perfect spanish and english so there won't be a problem in understanding each other, plus I like helping people (that's why I'm here answering questions and only getting useless points in exchange haha).

Hola,
Buy or rent movies that you like with spanish audio and caption, sometimes they are not accurate or some other times the audio and caption doesn't match but is a good start. I teach spanish and I thought of teaching it remotely to people with broadband connection using Skype. The only thing is I want to do this as profit and I haven't thought how to charge, maybe using paypal. I'm originally from Venezuela but now living in Albuquerque, NM, currently teaching Spanish to a few people in town.
Take care
Hasta la vista!

find some people who speak Spanish who are not Mexican. Join a social group that has lessons for other languages. Maybe take some college Spanish courses and meet others like you.

Please, don't hang out with Mexican if improving your Spanish is your goal. Enjoy your Mexican friends for other reasons, but try not to be influenced by their language. It's the poorest and basest Spanish ever, second only to the Puerto Rican Spanish.
Be more selective. Pick first generation native speakers: South American and some Spaniards, depending on the region they're coming from (avoid Andalusians). Do not watch Univision. Please! For your sanity, don't do that.

I think in order to learn spanish you can go to the library and check out a spainsh book. Start out with the simple words and input the spainsh into larger words with the little knowledge of spanish you already know. Also go to a Mexican restaurant and start speaking the little spainsh you know and then you can meet some mexican friends.

There are spanish sites online. You can join in some games such as a moo, or a mud, and that will speed up learning the language.
If you have cable you can watch the spanish channel and turn on the text display. That helps alot.

No friends of any kind? Do you want to learn a language or get over this no-friend situation?
