if you are in IT for industry, it still depends on what kind of company you are working with. is it a big company or small company. for two years of experience, i think you should expect 65k - 75k a year. you can DEFINITELY survive on that. You will easily be able to afford an apartment around 1400 a month. You can live in NW DC and find a decent one bedroom. Or you can find a really nice place in Arlington. I would check out apartment websites and start hunting. Besides the cost of housing, it's not that expensive to live here unless you have expensive tastes in dining. There are such amazing restaurants around town... but at the same time there are plenty of cheap eats.

Good luck with your search.

Man... I'm in your situation.

Doing 57 500 including bonuses you have to share and live good but not too much savings.

I think 65 if you want live by yourself and save money with a good lifestyle without being a Paris Hilton.

A nice apartment in Arlington is 1800, bad apartment like 1400 1b 1b If you share should be 2200 or 2000 for a GREAT 2b 2b apartment

Have you tried rent.com??

Now, Don't live in DC, live in Arlington, Tax here is 4-5% DC is 10% that makes everything 5% cheaper ah??? If going to Arlington, look near to Clarendon, Cour house, virginia sq and Ballston, try to be walking distance from the Metro station (Fairfax Dr)

Good luck... Let me know if you need something else.

As a young professional living in DC, I would say you would want to make around 40k to live comfortably. Expect rent to run you around 1,000 a month, depending on where you want to live, how much space you want, and whether you want to opt for a roommate. For my 800 sq ft, its about 1300 in NW DC. Commuting is expensive here, with a choice between heavy traffic and high gas prices (around 3.10) or Metro, which isn't cheap either. So for 40k, expect to live comfortably, but not nicely. If you budget your money well, and set your priorities, it can be fine.

From my experience, more than most professionals with a year or two of experience make (depending, of course, on your profession). Many people that live right near town have roommates. Others live farther out in the 'burbs. May God bless and keep you.

maximum folk who artwork in DC do not stay there. With 55K you probable couldn't arise with the money for it. attempt residing in Northern Virginia or south western Maryland. Commuting will change into your next proper pal, so evaluate making an investment in a Prius.

DC, Yecch!

Maryland or Virginia!

That takes a lot of money!

DC is a slum!

No offense, but it has some of the highest crime rates in America!

You're much better off in the countryside of Virgina!
