There are over the counter medicines that you can buy for under 20 dollars. Just be prepared, because the dog will be throwing up and pooping all over. You will need to watch your dog and make sure they dont dehydrate.

the best way to get this taken care of is going to the vet.. especially if hes getting sick. that could mean a virus from the Worms have started. its actually really dangerous. i understand the not having money.. at least call a vet and tell the honestly the situation that the dog is having ( vomiting too ) and tell them you are short on cash and need to know if there's something they can still do like set you up on payment plans. ask them if there's an over the counter prescription you can use to ease the pain of the dog going through worms. this is a very uncomfortable situation for the dog to have to go through for a long period of time.

Oh,poor thing!!! I live in Las Vegas too!!! I used to have a dog with worms when we lived back in Michigan. If you don't get him to the vet soon, the worms will get worse and maybe kill him. You could try a dewormer but do it soon or the worms will get worse. Good Luck!!!!

have you even called the vet to see how much dewormer is?
over the counter crap doesn't work very good. there are MANY types of worms...over the counter treatments are not "targeted" for ONE type but many...so sometimes they don't work that great.
a vet can tell you what type of worm it is...and what dewormer would work best.
its NOT that expensive...why do you think you can't afford it? if you can buy two bags of dog food, you can afford it.
IF YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE VET YOU CAN'T AFFORD THE PET. and you should never have gotten it.
there is no welfare for dogs! getting a dog, and not being able to cover basic needs (deworming IS BASIC) is like having a kid when you don't have health care...its STUPID, and puts your dog a risk for A LOT of diseases...worms are the LEAST of your worries if you cant afford to care for your dog properly.

Depends on the type.....are they long and kinda whitish yellow, or are they short and flat kinda like rice.......Round worms (the long ones) can be treated with store bought dewormer. Tapes (rice looking ones) have to be treated with drontal which is prescription only and can be expensive depending on the weight of the dog. The worms will probably NOT kill him, but they do need to be treated. If it is tapes you should check for fleas since consuming flea larva is what causes them.
Just know that puppies can have more than one type at a time.

has he seen the vet at all? if so, he may be willing to get you the worm meds without seeing the dog again. If not, you can get on line and order panacure, it is a general dewormer for dogs. I don't know how long it will take for you to get it, but you could check it out.

I think you should just be able to go to the store and buy some piperazine and follow the instructions on the bottle. Remember this will give him diarrhea. I can get piperazine at WalMart here, and have given my dog this treatment in the past without any trouble. Of course, I live on a farm.....

you should also have your dog on a heartworm preventative. This will help to control any other worms that the dog may be exposed to. it is alittle expensive, but worth it. You can buy inexpensive Heartworm meds at Dr's Foster's and Smith. They are online.

If its round worms, then yes, you can buy medicine at the grocery store or any pet store. If its a tapeworm, then no, you have to go to the vet. Call them and ask.
