For example, right now you can book through December 10, 2005 on southwest.com. I want a flight in January - and have been checking weekly - it's been Dec 10 for a while. I'd like to know so I don't get shut out from a cheaper fare. thanks!

Their fares are released usually 4-5 months in advance. Normally its only 4 months. Their fare structure is pretty much set, they only offer a certain number of internet fares, so those will go fast. Just keep checking back, but don't fret. You still have plenty of time. Most people arent booking this far in advance. Depending on what your cities are, they are not always the cheapest. Check the other major US carriers to know what they are offering right now to compare. Whatever the lowest Internet Fare is for that city pair should be relitively close. They have been going through fare raising lately *finally* and their fares could go up like any other carrier. Personally they are not my favorite airline, but I worked for another carrier. To the industry they are the Wal-Mart of the skies, one of the nicer terms we used.

E-mail me your city pairs and dates and I'll let you know what the rest of the industry is posting. I have found better deals on other airlines or fares that are comparable. If you are worried and you want a good fare and want to book now, you may want to consider the other airlines to secure a good fare and go ahead and have your tickets.

Just keep checking...because the last time I had checked, which was a few weeks ago, they were only booking through November, so the fact that you saw Dec 10 means they are slowly moving forward. And keep checking regularly, b/c with SW, the sooner you see the flights, the cheaper they are! Good luck!
