Forgive me, but why should we be concerned about New Yorkers' temporary lack of electricity, when many Americans aren't able to AFFORD electricity at all.
THOSE folks, I'm worried about.
And especially worried that I become one of them, some fine day...

We aren't infallable; things like this can happen. Remember the outage of 2003? There's a massive heat wave over the whole country, therefore people are using way more electricity than usual to cool themselves...what would people do if Armageddon really did come? I'd be sad to see the chaos.

it's called a strain on power grid resources. rolling blackouts in los angeles also.
not a surprise, when you have millions of illegals in a nation where resources are made for only those here legally, it's no wonder that it's happening in major cities with an illegal immigrant problem. And it started happening in california 5 or 6 years ago.
the outages in the middle of the country is just fallout.

You need to take some action at the Ballot box and make life real hard on Con Edison and you have support, New York needs a reactor or two to alliviate the constant shortages, the problem resides in Albany in the legislature.

It is a combination of factors. One, the degrading power infrastructure. Two, deregulation. Three, Enron style corruption. Four, the GOP.
Remember is was the Democrats under FDR who built up the Power Grid and Telecommunications systems during the depression. The depression itself was another Republican invention, but that is a discussion for another time.

I feel for the folks with out electric power but I doubt it can be blamed on illegal aliens .The heat is affecting the power grids ability to direct the loads due to the demand.

Can anyone, who has pointed to the illegal immigrants as the cause, what is the percentage of power these people additionally utilise? Don't put fingers on others for your problems. Problem identification has to be correct for a solution.

Illegal Mexicans hook up to the power grid without paying and create strain on the system. That's why you see it in NY or LA , but not in Norman, OK.

We are the LAND OF the free. nothing was said about the commodities IN it being free. if WE DON'T START TAKING SOME OF THE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS BEING WASTED ON STUPID WARS and start spending some of it on our infrastructure these types of problems are going to get a lot worse.
