Every now and then, I meet people that stand out of the crowd and make an impression on me. I admit, most of them are males. I get so over-enthusiastic about them that I have to know everything there is to know about them and spend as much time together as possible. This only lasts for about 2 weeks (until I satisfy my curiousity); after that, they do not interest me that much.
I would like to add that, at first, romantic feelings are left out (I am more interested in the emotional bond we share). I am very discreet about it (I'm not a stalker or anything like that), but this becomes the dominating thought in those 2 weeks. Sometimes it gets confusing and I end up fantazising about them.
Do I have a problem with this? What kind of problem? And how serious is it?

Hi passion,

I can relate, I get VERY obsessive about people, friends, relationships, etc... but my obsessions end up lasting for YEARS, not just weeks. I'm in recovery now for ETOH abuse and depression, and life is much better.

You may have nascent boundary issues. It doesn't sound that bad yet, but it could cause problems down the road. If you have that tendency, it could indicate a disorder of some sort, and personality disorders NEVER just clear up on their own.

[SIDEBAR: Use of alcohol and/or drugs could exacerbate the problem, if a problem indeed exists.]

It doesn't sound serious, but perhaps you would do well to speak to a counselor about it, just to keep it in check and nip it in the bud (butt?) if there is indeed an issue there.

Keep us posted...

Jack

PS: My experience with this stuff is based soley on my own experience. I do not have a degree in psych or counseling - far be it from me to practice psychiatry without a license...

It seems like that you are worried about this but not like afraid of it.

But if you want to try to avoid this. Let me ask you what would you think if some guy/gal out there did this with you. I'm not sure how strong your feelings are. But if you imagine that there is this guy taking pictures of you and posting them on his wall without your knowledge. I'm sure you would not feel very comfortable or might even want to slap a restraining order on the guy.

If its just a guy that wants to meet you but is afraid to approach you. And is thinking of someway to introduce himeslf and finds you fascinating, it might be something you are ok with .. but then again it might not.

Just temper and control how you feel about something if you don't think its inappropriate.

you don't have a problem don't worry lol. all it is that you have a search for curiosity as does everyone and when you know what you need to know you move on.. maybe what you found out about them just didn't interest you, but hopefully one day you'll meet someone that will intrigue you forever.

it sounds like a power game you are playing with yourself.you pick a guy out of a crowd and see if you can get him.it sounds like you are really good at this.
try to accept yourself as you are and stop trying to get validation from complete strangers.

You might want to consult a professional therapist as I think there is something more going on here. Seek professional help ASAP.

It sounds as though you do have a problem of some sort and you should talk to a doc about it.

Um, sort of. Try and do stuff that interests you to take your mind off it.
