I have a cat that is a year and a half old. We've had her for five months and about two and a half months ago she went into heat for the first time. It lasted for about two days when she got outside; I came back from work and found the back door open... we have strays all around our house because my next door neighbor feeds them. i found her on my deck and brought her back in. She hasnt been in heat since! now that shes two months along her stomach seems to be getting harder and i think i might be feeling lumps. How can i really tell without bringing her to the vet??

the stomach is harder but i cant tell if its really bigger... she is sleeping all the time.. and sitting by the food bowl otherwise. the only reason she wasnt spayed to begin with is because we were only watching her for a while, but now shes ours... and it was too late. : )

Take my word for it...

she is with child!! she's pregnant.

If it has been exactly 2 months ago (8 weeks) then she will be due to deliver in a week.

Her nipples should appear enlarged or "pinked up" and her appetite should have increased.

Sounds to me like she is, but you DO need to have her checked out by a vet. Even without displaying heat, a cat that's a year and a half old should already have been spayed!
You ALSO need to make sure, since it looks like kittens are imminent, to be feeding the new mommy kitten food as of today! she will need to have kitten food throughout the pregnancy up until at least the time she weans the babies. She needs the extra nutrition for herself AND for the babies.
If she's two months along, she'll be having them pretty darn soon, so the vet can give you a slightly better idea. If you can get her to lay quietly and can hold your hands to her belly, you might feel a bit of fluttering. Or, if she's a lover, get her to lay on your chest or belly, tummy down, and you might feel it that way, as well.
Since you're having babies, you'll also need to start speaking to people about placing them when they're old enough -- and calling around to vets/shelters/etc. re: pricing the spay/neuter/shots, because you now have a lot more responsibility heading your way.

i think she may be pregnant.

you have to take her to the vet.
BTW you can still spay a pregnant cat. i advice you to do that quickly before she gives birth:
One unspayed cat and her offspring can produce 420,000 cats in seven years.
over 5 millions cats and dogs are being put down each year. some of your cat kittens will be part of the statistic no matter how sure you are that they got a loving home.
Spaying eliminates the stress and discomfort that females endure during heat periods,
a cat chances of getting uterus cancer and infections are growing with each heat period and pregnancy.

i also advice you to talk to your neighber and ask her if her strays are spayed if not she should contact the local shelter and have them spayed. i think they do it for low cost or for free.

Give her a little more time and you can check her **** for swelling around the nipple. Usually means she has milk for her little ones.

If she is more sensitive than usual, off her food, throws up, or if she gets a fat tummy!
