Depends on what type of a person you are. If you are smart I would recommend a cat. You can do your work and they won't bother you. They are independent. The cats are also fuzzy and cute. They are always soft. Dogs are a lot of work and money. If you have around 5 hours of spare time you should get a dog. It is a lot of work. They cost more because of toys, food, and repairing things. They always need attention. It mostly depends on the dog. SO if you are smart get a cat. Non busy and have time and money get a dog.

It depends...

a dog needs more time and attention from you. It also needs to be walked, be let outside more often, and more room in general. Unless it's a small dog, it'll eat more as well.

A cat can live comfortably in a small apartment, can use a litter box, and doesn't eat that much food. Two cats living together can often keep each other entertained and will not be as destructive - clawing, etc. However, a cat can make a house smell worse than any dog can ever manage.

You can leave a cat home for a weekend if you put down fresh food, water, and change the cat litter. You can't do that with a dog.

A dog will often offer protection from an intruder or attacker, however. A cat will ask the intruder to put some food down, and then otherwise ignore them.

It depends on your lifestyle.

If you are home a lot, don't mind giving lots of attention, and can afford the cost of food and health-care, get a dog. Dogs are also messy. The pros are, in return a dog will protect you and show you its love as much as it possibly can.

If you're home is empty a lot, a dog is not right for you. It is cruel to leave a dog home alone for any great span of time.

If you like to have something cute and furry around that won't attract a lot of attention (or go crazy when someone new enters its territory) then a cat is the best option. You don't have to take it outside to "go", litter box training is a breeze. I trained my cat in two and a half days. Cats enjoy cuddling, mousing, or stalking little bits of paper (to the owner's amusement), but they also like their alone time. Medical care is less expensive. On average they live longer.

The cons of owning a cat are cleaning out its litter box, and the cost of the litter. Where I live, kitty litter is about 6 dollars for a three-week supply. A litter box needs to be cleaned at least once a day.

To outline the important points:

If you are looking for a faithful, loving companion for the next decade or so, get a dog.

If you are looking for a fun-loving fuzzball to adventure with (as you will definitely have some adventures together) once in a while whom can take care of itself, get a cat.

Good luck.

Depends on your lifestyle. Dogs need a lot more attention than cats. Both can be very loving companions. Cats you can feed and have a litter box and don't have to worry about being home at a certain time. If you have an inside dog, they need to be taken out, and need love and exercise on a regular basis. Cats sometimes seem distant and aren't always as loving. Dogs will usually always be by your side.

Cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat cat People say that they cant sit and things like that that dogs can do but i know a cat that sits on command. People say a bunch of things bad about cats and good about dogs but I can prove half of those wrong. Plus cats can bring in there claws so if they craw on you they dont hurt you, but if a dog crawls on you the claws mite stick you.

it depends on what you do on an every day basis. if you're home a lot or like to go outside, a dog of course! but if you like to travel, even for just the weekend, or aren't home a lot, a cat. dogs can be a lot of fun, and a lot like family, but cats aren't as high matinence--and still very lovely! cats are also a lot cheaper to take care of, if you get a big dog...

i have both, but i'm more partial to the cats, just because they aren't always begging for attention! haha

once you decide, go down to your local humane society and pick one up! they'll help you find a pet that will be perfect for you (you can play with it, get to know it, etc), and it'll be 1/6 the price of a petstore one! also, pet stores also usually take really bad care of their pets--and, pure breeds are usually over imbred and genetically defected =(

good luck!!

U should get a cat, because u don't really have to do much really. U can also leave them home alone for a long time without worrying.

well, Dogs are more work (you have to bathe them, give them food, give them water, brush them, train them, etc) but often are loyal and good guard pets. They will also show you the most affection most times. On the other hand, cats are less work (food, water, scoop litterbox. thats it) but they cant do cool tricks or protect you or play fetch. Cats can be great pets though because they do show affection. Hope that helps!
