They should be rounded up and put in jail! But instead their being given jobs and allowed to run loose. There's even a bank that allows them to open accounts. Where is our sense of national security?

cantcu - What part of "illegal" don't you understand? It's not a "civil violation" like you claim, it's a FEDERAL CRIME to enter this country illegally. Don't candy coat it just because you are one of them.
Second of all, the republicans are not using them as slave labor, the republicans are the one's that want to send them home! It's the liberals that want to let them stay here illegally and continue to work and pay into social security that they'll never get to use. THAT'S ripping them off.

bauted_baute - What in the heck are you talking about? Was that English? You know you have to be a certain age to use yahoo right? Also, the CEO of Enron is NOT in jail. Never was, never will be. He's dead. Perhaps if you spent a little more time in English class you'd learn to read and then could read a newspaper once in a while.

openpsyche - so then why don't we let pedophiles do their crime? You can never stop them from doing what they are doing. Why don't we just let them realize their dream? They perform a service which regular citizens are unwilling (or not sick enough) to perform.
Lastly a humanitarian view: Today we complain about them. Have you forgotten history? The Romans used to have sex with little boys, it was considered fashionable. Rome was one of the most successful civilizations of all time.
I can make YOUR argument for pedophiles.

Brian H - It was NOT a white guy that blew up the "world tower" (by which i'm assuming you meant World Trade Tower) It was radical Islamic fundamentalists. But MEXICANS are not the only one's that are coming across our borders illegally. You're darned right it's extreme. (Although not as extreme as my real ideas on the subject......stay tuned to yahoo answers.)

There's not time, space, or cash enough to spend time rounding up people who are just here working without papers. It's just silly to think that's a good idea when it would cost us untol billions of dollars and essentially require adding 10 cops for every one already in uniform.

IF the indians had a police force back in the day then this country should have never started and we would all have been arrested. stop being so ignorant people! Its been proven time and time again these immagrants help our economy. America was built on openmindedness. i do agree with some things about immigrants takign advantage of the system. But to arrest them is alittle harsh. they are just people like you and I. I have more admiration for them then most of my coworkers who complain about 5 minutes being cut off their break time. They work hard,do the jobs we dotn want to do, and give almost all their money to their family in mexico just so they can survive. Yes they should fix their own gov't. Yes they should come in the land legally and go through the system first. But seriously when was the last time a mexican blew up the world tower? i know a white guy did. Olympic bombing not a mexican. Seems alittle extreme and slightly racist.

Two ways to look at the problem. First -simplistic. It is against law -So get hold of them and put them behind the bars. Let law take its own course. Second-Pragmatic. They will perform jobs which natives are unwilling to do and contribute to the economy in a fruitful way. You can never stop them from coming in. Hence better give them some work to enable them to realize their dreams rather than creating law and order problems and crime in society. Lastly a humanitarian view. Today you are complaining that these are illegal immigrants. Have you forgotten the history? After all the Country was established and built by people who were all Illegal immigrants to start with.

Because politicians are looking for votes. Plain and simple. Why all of a sudden are they conducting raids and gettting tough on the border when we've had this problem for decades? Why do we have to have new laws when the old ones we have work if they would just enforce them? You don't see, for example, Mexico, opening their arms to illegal immigrants. They are jailed and deported, aren't allowed to rally against the government, and even after naturalized, native born Mexican citizens are given preference over foreign born Mexicans.
We should take a page from Mexico's immigration laws and do what we're supposed to do. Our own laws make illegal immigration illegal and a crime. If I went somewhere else and did what illegals do here, I would expect to be punished. Why shouldn't I? I'm breaking the law. Try to go into a bank and rob it and see how much understanding you'd get for doing something illegal, for whatever reason, to feed your family, to have a better way of life, to send money home... you'd be laughed out of court. Should be the same in this case.
As for Westside, we're all the same, but we aren't all of the same nationality and that counts for something.

Because too many people would complain that they have illegal other family members here too!!!!
I think illegal immigrants should hold the status of felon and should be treated as so....
Where did this country go when we are all paying for the people who dont belong here. Geez theres a bill in ney york right now that s fighting give illegal immigrantsmoney forschool (tap pell) because they have "rights too" well you non tax paying mo-fo's your not supposed to be here why should we be giving you all this money....
SEND THEM ALL HOME!!! and we will see what the difference is when we no longer have 50 minnion people on welfare because its free money for them and they dont get introuble because when ever the police bring them back to wherre ever they can from at the cost of american taxpayers they run right back into the country and start breaking the laws again.
PS> I was involved in a car accident that was not my fault as determined by the police but since the driver of the other vehicle (who was drunk might i add) was given a ride home and I had to pay for the insurance on my premium because he didnt have insurance and there was nothing that the police could do about it ....

I think they should be given the choice- 1) become a citizen or 2) leave. I think it is interesting how open many people on this board are to overlooking a few million extra illegal people in our country. It is not about race or maybe it is because we don't want to offend anyone since everyone is the same until you want a parade letting everyone know how different you are. If this was people from Canada, would they call it an invasion and declare war?

Because similar to the drug trader, they're criminals. Pretty functional fairly, holiday the regulation you must be dealt with within the procedure that breaking that regulation gets you, scouse borrow a automobile, you do the time, kill any individual you do the time, do such as you advocate and deal with folks right here illegally greater than the residents, get deported with those who find themselves right here illegally. Again lovely functional. Now have a nice day. Oh and this could nonetheless be dealt with greater than in lots of different international locations, Mexico could simply throw you in jail for approximately 10 years earlier than deporting you. Iran could simply kill you.

Putting them in jail does not solve the deeper issues.
What they really need is direction and support to get with the program and apply for legal status.
If they refuse to apply for legal status, then they need to be deported...not kept here crowding up the jails, so that violent criminals get bumped back into the streets because of "good behavior."
America was too lax for too many years, that's how it became a problem. The problem will not resolve itself over night.
But, the problem is not "evil people." The problem is that illegal people need to proceed with the process of acquiring legal status.

That's a point that has been debated on the Immigration site forever now .... as long as greedy corporations want cheap labor, or slave labor if they could get it, and as long as our elected representatives are bought up by these corporations, you will see no change ... this present administration is jeopardizing the security of our nation for a quick buck ... come election time, make sure you know who you're voting for ...

Because the politicians are too scared to do anything because big business get cheap labor with illegals. They do need to be sent back because they will eventually ruin our economy. They already cost us millions a day letting them stay here. Not counting the diseases they are bringing here. I don't mind immigrants, just come here legally, and it would be nice if you could speak English when you got here.
