It would have been nice for you to give a more specific example of a type of dress or behavior, but anyhow I think you answered your own question. Women's sexuality was possibly the most oppressed part of the female spirit. Women were expected to be proper little ladies whilst men got away with barbaric sexual behavior. Now that women have a little more equality (though there is still a long way to go), *some* of them like to flaunt their sexuality like men have since the damn of time and women did before puritanical freaks decided fun was a sin.
As for the feminist comment above, do you know what a feminist is? I am one. If you believe men and women should be completely equal in the eyes of society then you are too. There is nothing more to it then that regardless of what idiots like Bill O'Reilly have been feeding you. I mean, a moron like that is so clearly sexually repressed, why would you take his word when it comes to women? He's probably only known two his whole life - his mommy and his stepford wife.

You can get difficult answers or simple ones; here's a simple one:
Sex sells.
Simple as that. Girls love to look "cute" for whatever reason; but honestly, it's about self promotion and attention, and that's not a bad thing. I think issues arise when the "self promotion" goes a bit too far, showing an inch of too much skin, or whatever.
Also, it doesn't help that people like Paris Hilton or whomever, is constantly flashed on the screen wearing little outfits that girls then assume is the next cool thing.
Personally, I don't care if a girl has on a tiny skirt or a turtleneck; I've been some beautiful girls that are so damn ugly inside, it doesn't matter how "cute" they look, unless their attitude changes, it's meaningless.

That is a great question..I wish i had the answer to it.. I find it in such poor taste when i see these young girls dressed with half there breast hanging out and if they were to bend over slightly--all would be showing!! They were SHORT shorts and skirts,,,too short in my taste.. But I'm sure they will say I'm old fashioned..but i just have different values....And they wonder why sex is on a mans mind all the time...Look at what he sees..

I have been wondering this myself for some time now. I thought that maybe I was getting too old and uptight. I think it's an influence of culture and videos and magazines. I also think these women confusing and abusing their power. They believe that being overtly sexy and trashy attracts men, well it does, but not quality men. I don't know the answer to this question, I do know that I have worked to hard and long too be taken seriously as a woman, to have these slutty girls take us back in time.

So you're a feminist....isn't that cute. Seriously though most of the time it's that women don't know how to dress to hide their mess which makes clothing look smaller and trashier. Men have been behaving this way forever and women were expected to not act like that. The equality thing is women lowering themselves to our level.

These 'trashy' girls are not the one's who fought for equality. THey are the generations that came after social mores and norms that were more conservative had been lifted.
It is not socially or politically correct to scoff at a girl's inappropriate dress because if you do you willbe called a 'pervert', 'chauvanist', 'old fart'.
I say let them dress trashy, this way when you go to hire them you know who NOT to hire.
Well that and Hip Hop...Country girls don't dress trashy...

Because sexuality, and soft pron has been put on the biggest screen(T.V.) for ratings and such, and for our younger generation , we have that grossed out t.v. show called MT.V they show nothing but half dressed women and songs full of stripper telling us this is what we need to be like....

Females only dress the way that trends lead them to. Tell your lady to be treated as a lady she must dress like one. Unless she is your whore and you are her pimp! I think that society puts that added pressure for gilrs to be slim and toned, so why cover up all that hard work? This are the girls that have slurppies for brains... Stear clear of the plastics!

I have no idea, but I find it very depressing. Often these girls claim to be feminists - that they are sexually aware. I'm not trying to judge anyone, and however you want to dress and act is your own business, but I don't think they realize how hard women worked so that they were not looked at as sex objects.
