My son 2 and a half, is quiet and thoughtful, but still full of fun. Whereas my daughter (21 months) is gregarious, daring and the life and soul of the party! Maybe it's an 'older child/younger child' thing? We tend to cosset our first borns and by the time the second one comes along, we're a lot more relaxed about things and perhaps this transmits to the child? They are still the best thing in my life, though, whatever they are like!

i only have one child, but my husband and his brother are chalk and cheese. My husband works hard to put food on the table, he's even considering getting a second job so that i can stay at home and look after our son. he will do anything for anyone, never in trouble with the police etc. his brother however hasn't really ever had a proper job, he has only really worked for my husband, mainly because he thinks he can get away with slacking. he hasn't worked in the last two years, his girlfriend goes out to work to support him, they still live with her mum. he has been to prison, stole from family, uses everybody, has a massive temper tantrum if he can't get his own way. i think i picked the right one!

I don't have kids but my brother and I could not be more different. He likes cars, cool stereos, having all the latest things can draw and design. I'm a bit of a hippy and have no drawing talent at all. We think differently but are still friends because we share the same parents and grew up together..

Yes, I had the same thing happen with mine. My oldest used to think that I "favored" the younger one. It wasn't until they got older that he understood that I saw the confidence in him that was lacking in the other, so I had to dedicate more time to the younger one. They both turned out great though. Well educated and very loving people.

My sister and I were total opposities, and it made this so much easier...we didn't compete with each other, we didn't try to outdo each other because we did such different things! She showed me how to be strong, I showed her how to be creative. We inspired but never tried to be each other. Today she is my best friend, just as she has always been- and still the total opposite of me! Thank God for your unique and wonderful kids!

Isn't it funny how they come from both parents and still are so different? Mine are the same way. My older boy (5) is so laid back, sweet, caring, very passive. While my younger boy (2) is very aggressive, doesn't have time for hugs and kisses, rough, loud....they are totally different, but they love each other and I love them!

I have two boys with one year's difference between them. One is headstrong and argumentative (but also very loving and witty), the other is also loving and witty but very mild mannered and does what he's told. They fight a lot though and it drives me mad!

I have 3 and they are all grown now. Each of their personalities is distinct and growing up they were a handful but a wonderful handful - none of them ever in trouble, all working and out of the house now....what a blessing!!

I think they come out of the womb with different personalities! My oldest is quiet and serious, my middle is creative and funny, and my youngest is sweet and cuddly. I didn't do anything different with any of them, but that's how they are - it's amazing!
