I'm planning on stuffing them with cooked groundmeat and cheeses..do i need to undercook them so when i put them back in the oven to melt the cheese they won't be over cooked?

First...forget the aluminum foil. Preheat your overn to 350°F. Rub just a thin coating of vegetable oil on them. Cooking spray works, but just make sure it's just enough to make it wet all around the potato. Lightly season with salt. The salt should stick to the oil. Then poke with a fork just enough to pierce the skin in a few places...this let's the pressure escape. Then bake at 350° for 1 hour.

Be sure to test the potato. It should be soft when squeezed and if you roll it on the counter, you should feel that the skin has seperated from the fleshy part of the potato. I promise you, this will make the best baked potato you've ever had. They are light and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside.

The skins taste wonderful when cooked like this so make sure you wash the potato well before you begin.

Good luck...remember, just a light coating of oil...just enough to moisten it all around. Also, It is better to slightly overcook a potato than to undercook it.

With the additional ground meat and cheeses, I would probably modify the recipe to 30 minutes as before, then I would slice lengthwise, add the ingredients and then wrap in foil to finish the last 30 minutes. I would add the ingredients at the 30 minute mark so the potato will still be stiff enough to work with. I would still stick with the original recipe if you're not stuffing them. Good luck...it sounds yummy.

You can wrap in foil if you want. Not nessary. You only need to poke holes if you are using the microwave.
Wash potatoe. Rub w/oil or bacon grease. Put into a pre-heated oven at 350 dgs. 1 hour normally.

I don't wrap mine in foil. I rub them with oil, the salt and pepper the skins. Put them on a baking sheet in a high temp (like 450*) oven for about an hour, depending on size. The skins get crispy and the insides are perfectly baked...

Yes a good baked potato is cooked at 350
in your oven for about an hour for a medium
size and larger about another 20 minute.
I would poke the potato first this helps with
it not exploding in the oven.
Enjoy, baked potatoes are very good for
you.

Wash them off and dry them. Then rub vegetable oil on them and poke holes in them with a fork. You don't have to put them in foil you can put them on a pan and let them cook for about 45-50 minutes on 400-425 degrees. Be sure to turn them over once during baking time.

I wrap in foil, preheat to 425 and bake for 1hour. Usually its less than that. As far as poking holes, I do that when I check the potato.

I'm not sure how long, but it is prob a while @ 350F with holes in them. I usu do mine in the microwave. Poke holes, no foil, ~6 mins, turn over, ~6mins again (depending on how big the potato). Until you can poke it w/ a fork easily. or when you pick it up and drop it on the counter/plate you feel it smoosh a little.

I cook them at 220 degrees and just poke them every 15 minutes to see how they're going. Around 40-50mins is about average, on the whole.

One hour at 375. Holes are not necessary. Rub with olive oil before wrapping.
