Top Seven Reasons Why Surfing is SO ADDICTIVE:
1) Sun
2) Water
3) Beach
4) Different wave every time
5) Different ride every time
6) No two people ride the same wave the same way. It's like artistic expression.
7) Girls

I'll tell you why....it becomes a part of your soul. When you're waiting for that next wave, your heart starts pumping adrenaline to your brain, making you feel good (high). You're feeling anxious when the wave roars out your name, trying to pull you under, and you overcome the massive wave like a pro, that 's why it's addicting to do it over and over again. The RUSH of completion, that in itself makes you feel whole. When you're not surfing, you feel lonely, and bored and the rush is gone, so.. you then become depressed until that next roar of your name on the waves mouth trying to swallow you under. It's very intense and ultimately you feel emply without it. It made me depressed too when I had to move 3800 miles away from the pipeline. Hang loose brau! aloha my friend! I'm there for ya brau! hula hugs.

I often wonder why I love it so much, too. Why is it so fun to scoot across the face of a wave? Its such a kick! Some stuff is obviously fun, like being with your friends, hooting for each others rides, the parties, the girls, the sunsets, the sunrises, the dolphins, on and on. But the essence of it, the actual wave riding, why that is so fun I honestly don't know, but it is.

Besides the fact that there are so few laws & restrictions in the ocean, I think being ONE with the force of nature is the most powerful addiction there is! It is something that is still as it was thousands of years ago & we can swim with our past, present & future at the same time!

It's the whole "getting away from it all" part of it that has me hooked. When I'm out on the water I don't think about anything but then next wave. It's the only therapy I need.

It is the endorphins that race through your body along with the adreneline. It is also the feeling of power over something more powerful than yourself, as well as being one with nature.
