They're not just watching! I saw Condoleeza Rice talking to the Israeli president this morning on CNN. Presumably there are lots of other diplomats trying to sort things out as well. However it's going to be VERY difficult, as things often are in that part of the world.

They're not sending in troops, true - but how would that help, exactly?

War in the Middle East is in nobody's interest, especially those in the west. Apart from anything else it means oil prices go up.

No, the West is supporting the Israeli terrorists as they oppress the original people of the region. I guess the West and Israel share some sort of Judeo-Christian connection. Then again, groups like Hezbollah and Hamas kill Westerners, but that doesn't mean the enemy (Israel) of your enemy (these groups) is your friend. Israel has committed heinous acts of injustice ever since it occupied the region with the monetary support and approval of England and its allies. Even ancient Israel was founded by people who evicted thousands of people already living there, such as the Canaanites. All in all, there's no way to really change the corrupt Westerners' decision to support Israel; because they won't change, the only way to stop them is to eliminate them, and that explains what groups like Hezbollah are doing. I support neither side of the conflict, but Israel seems more unjust in its racist imperialism.

Because for now, it's not our business. And our leaders know that for everybody asking this question, there'll be 10,000 sniveling peacenix start to whine and moan about going to war. such types of mentlity has a kneejerk reaction to any type of warfare, for any reason. Seems kinda pathetic to me that some people have nothing they care about enough to fight for.
At the moment, I think our becoming involved in that conflict would only serve to make matters worse. It'd be seen as the ole U.S. bullying once again, rather than helping to create peace.

It isn't. There is a huge diplomatic effort going on behind the scenes. Don't rely on Y. Read the papers, watch the TV news, listen to the radio, check out Yahoo news.

Yea , we're tired of hearing about Iraq. Let em' handle it themselves. Or don't you believe that its the same principle,we go in try and get rid of Hezbollah, who threatens genocide against Israel and with the help of Iran and Syria has the tools to do it. Saddam committed genocide against his own people and all this administration hears is "Why are we there?"

Because we see that the Terrorists need to be wiped out and Israel is perfectly capable to do so. They have the worlds best airforce(besides america) just leave them alone. Israel knows what she is doing. Its her prob. not ours
Plus israel is a blessing or a curse. When we step in and make israels decisions for her we get a national disaster

If America steps in, the world cries "The United States is Meddling in our affairs again!"

If America does not step in, the world cries "Why isn't America Helping"

Can't have it both ways. It's their fight, let them kill each other.

Because the US won't reign its sidekick Israel in. There are so many sucessful Jews in high places in the US that maybe they can't afford to tell Israel that its credit has run out.
