i am trying to get in the army, but when i went to meps in 98 i got disqualified for failing the hearing test. since then i have gone to college gotten a degree, and gotten my hearing fixed. I have been cleared by the civilian doctors and have all the test results and papers. do you think they will let me in? or do you think they will disqualify me again? I have lost nearly 40 lbs and spent a lot of money on my surgeries. I got a patch over my eardrum, and pass the tests with flying colors. i am going to meps next month and i dont want to be discouratged because of all the hard work i have done to get here. do you think i will get in?

it's tough to say for sure, without specifics. I'd say you're gonna be just fine. If you can pass the physical NOW is what counts. The past results will be looked at of course. The possibility is always there with a patient that some detail may be relevant. But it's not an automatic that cause ya did'nt pass the last one, that you'll be turned down. If your weight's fine, and the eardrum patch is as durable and functional as a natural eardrum, there's no reason for them to use it against ya. Specially if you've been cleared by civilian doctors. (I'd get a letter from your doc to take to MEPS saying your O.K. It'll carry alot of weight if ya insist on it being inserted into your medical report file.) I'm impressed with your tenacity and detemernation. Dedication like that seems to be in short supply nowadays, and with it you'll do well in the service.

a lot of that will depend on whether the surgery you had is considered "experimental"... believe it or not... RK was considered "experimental" until VERY recently and was not an approved surgery to have.

Whatever you do.... tell the truth... as you are asked the questions. No need to volunteer info that you weren't asked for. I used to tell all of my applicants that I only wanted the truth about everything, that I would deal with any negatives... when it came time for MEPS I would ask if anything has changed since the last time we spoke... then tell the applicant.... "Do NOT develop a MEMORY or a concience... tell me EVERYTHING NOW" Let your recruiter do his job BEFORE you go to MEPS. Remember, they have people there who have ONE job... to get you to change your story... they get paid to do nothing but that.... so you can bet they have had plenty of practice and are quite good at what they do.

It's always worth a try. I can't say for hearing surgery, but I had eye surgery and you can't do certain things in the Army if you've had that done.

If they don't take you in the Army try and Air Force, with a degree, it will be a lot easier to get in. But if nobody takes you, there are other ways to serve your country. You've got my respect for trying.

As a retired 20 twelve months Air rigidity veteran, i ought to assert you've an exquisite heavy plate of strikes against you. when I study you heritage, I puzzled why someone at your age, even as the incidents ocurred, ought to even do such issues. You look to me to no longer be an extremely in charge man or woman and someone that has no longer stepped as a lot because the plate for his or her moves. Then on excellent of that you've been negilent which includes your economic responsibiliity, plus misconduct against a police officer. even as are you going to augment up and take charge of your existence. Now you're married and function an 18 month previous son. with any success, he gained't stick with in dads foot step in existence. Who might want to we blame for all of those incidents? I blame YOU and experience you want to settle for the very undeniable actuality that you created the topics. per chance the military ought to apply an addition tank observer in Iraq. yet will you be there for the guy soldier even as the time comes? I doubt it! You ran or concealed out of your fines!

You will get in at this time because they dont mind taking bodies. You will most likely be an officer if you have a 4 yr degree.

Try for it... don't listen to the recruiters they lie... be careful what job you ask for... with the 4-year degree you could go for warrent officer or OCS but you have to request those, otherwise you would go in as an E-4 (Specialist)... Be strong with the recruiters!!!

If your hearing is fixed and you meet the requirements of the army, I personally do not see why they would not take you this time.

Good Luck!

Sure you can. You'll just have a hearing profile. They probably wont let you get into anything like artillery though.

With all my heart, I hope the Army turns you down flat.

And may you live a LONG and healthy life bitching about it.
