It seems that you have to get into Georgia or Alabama before you can find it. I am originally from the Midwest and moved to Florida and enjoy sweet tea in lieu of Soda but now that I am moving back to the Midwest I just wanted to know if anyone else knew the reason.

First of all, I love the flowers in your hair, it looks lovely :-)

OK, I like sweet tea too, here is what Wikipedia says about it:

"The sweet tea line is the boundary of the region in which "sweet tea" is generally served and accepted. To the North it is along the Ohio River border, with the exception of areas in Southern Indiana like Evansville and the Indiana portion of the Louisville Kentucky area. It is somewhere West of the Mississippi River, including Texas, Louisiana, and parts of Oklahoma."

there are some recipes on this website, maybe you should just make up a big batch for yourself!

I live in NC right now (origionally from Oregon though) and love sweet tea too. I guess it's just a southern thing. My best advice is to find someone to show you how to make it.
A friend told me to use about 6-8 tea bags and let it brew till it was nice and strong, then add about a cup of sugar while the tea is still hot. Pour it over ice... if too strong add a little water.

Sweet tea isn't popular in the north, not even in the more urban areas like Detroit or Chicago. I'm not aware of anyone who serves it up here...though Logan's Roadhouse does have something similar.

On the otherhand, Vernor's Ginger Ale is plentiful and delicious...and you can't get it in the South!
