Sweeteners are actually harmful to people who do not have diabetes. Check out the site on sweeteners and harmful effects. Diet drinks are more harmful that regular sodas IF you do not have diabetes or if your family never had diabetes. If you want to watch your calories, water is the best drink you can take and stop taking soda and just stick with all natural juices (not powdered ones). To add flavor to the water, add a slice of lemon to it and let it float in the water, don't squeeze it. Between soda and gatorade, if you exercise really heavily, gatorade is better than water.

Water is definitley the best drink to have. Not only does it ocntain no sweetners, calories etc, it also helps to keep hunger at bay.

I live on diet coke & diet pepsi (admittedly, I'm not on a diet) but my dentist loves me as I spend so much money there.

If you are going to drink diet coke as an anlternative to water (sometimes), then make sure you drink it through a straw. The sweetners are no good for your teeth, and the drink itself makes you bloat.

Good luck with your dieting - we will all be thinking of you :-)

Water is the best diet drink! Herb tea is good if you want a flavour hit. Sweeteners don't help re-educate your taste buds

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/qpOVM

A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

Like most have said water is your best bet. Fruit juices can have too much sugar and no real dietary value and diet drinks usually contain aspartame which is quite bad for your body.

I used to have diet coke. But for a good few years now I tend just to stick to water or cranberry juice. Now I don't like fizzy drinks.

Green tea has no calories and loads of antioxidants to neutralise all those free radicals that will be released as you lose that excess body fat.

Chemical sweeteners can be dangerous, and don't re-educate your palate not to hanker after sweet things.
