My Spanish teacher . . . she was a hottie, but she got caught with a student and that was the end of her teaching career in HS.

Sure. Most people do and never admit it. It's uncomfortable for everyone... The student, the teacher, etc. People don't like to talk about it because it is a taboo subject. The reason that it's not okay to act on it (by either side) is that, first off, there may be an age issue if the student with the crush is in High School, as having a relationship with an underage teenager is against the law in most jurisdictions. The second issue here has to do not with age, but with power. The very nature of a student-teacher relationship dictates that the teacher has more power, he or she is the one in control. Ethically speaking, because he or she has more power in the relationship, he or she has a moral duty and obligation to keep the relationship appropriate.
People (the general public) are scared to admit that students OR TEACHERS may be attracted to each other... It means that our teenagers are sexual and our teachers know this. That is scary, especially for parents. I think if both sides acknowledged that this existed, it would be a lot easier to deal with. Teachers would understand that that have a moral obligation not to get involved with students, and teenagers could learn that it's natural to fall for a teacher, but innapropriate to act on it. It is still okay to acknowledge how you feel.
People are scared to face the truth, because it may make them question the things they believe in.
I, of course, like every other teenage girl, was also in love with a teacher of mine (years ago).

I did when I was in high school. I had the most massive crush on my music teacher and one day he reprimanded me in front of the entire class for showing up late. I instantly burst into tears and ran from the room, completely humiliated, embarrassed and hurt. He ran after me, spun me around and asked why I was acting this way. When I couldn't look him in the eye, he knew instantly that I had a crush on him and he immediately softened, pulled me close and hugged me tight. He told me how sorry he was for hurting my feelings and that everything would be alright. He was quite respectable and we were friends for the duration of my time at that school.

I have too, even though I'm in college now, all of a sudden most teachers are looking good instead of most of the girls on campus. I've had one three crushes on H.S and I have about four right now.
