It depends....how old are you and how much time do you want to commit to it? In order to see significant changes in your body, I think you will have to train at least 5-6 hours a week. Taking a class one night a week will not do the job.
Gymnastics is FUN but a lot of hard work. You have to be willing to do a lot of repetitions of exercises and skills in order to improve. In my opinion, gymnastics is equal parts strength, coordination, and mental toughness. In order to learn skills, you have to be willing to put in the work building up your strength at the same time. That means lots of push ups, sit ups, leg exercises, etc. Not to mention stamina, which you can improve by doing lots of cardio. So---yes, gymnastics can burn fat if you do all of the above. If you just go in the gym to mess around and do skills, you probably won't see much change.
I think running or aerobics would be the fastest way to burn fat, but make sure you are being sensible about eating properly too. Eat a balanced diet and DO NOT try to starve yourself to lose weight.
Another fun way to burn fat is to start taking some high energy dance classes, like hip hop.
Hope that helps! If you want anymore gymnastics advice let me know :)

Yes gymnatics are great and I believe you are refering to gymnastics as exercise, not the sport of gymnastics. Just don't overdo at first. Walking is a great place to start and don't forget to eat more veggies and fruit and less junk!

They can help as they are a form of exercise. But beware, if you get into gymnastics heavily and compete you could substain severe cartilage damage due to repetitive motion injuries.

have you ever seen a fat gymnast? Of course it can help, but if you get really in shape, your boobs will disappear, so judge what you want to do carefully!!!!

Gymnastics is great, it will "tone up" your body. But you need good coordination and balance skills which would be developed and enhanced depending on your age
