They are very good dogs and the mistake most people make is feeding them once a day along with feeding them people food. Doing this will make them fat and when they get older they will have lower back problems and become paralyzed in the back legs.

To ensure they live a long life I can tell you from experience to leave food in their food bowl 24/7. Doing this will let the dog know anytime they get hungry they can eat, hence, your dog will never become fat and stay in great shape.

My aunt has Dachshund's and they are really easy to care for... They are content with sleeping most of the day aha... But if you let them on furnature make sure not to let them jump off of it because it will screw up their back... That happened to my aunts dog about a month ago and she was forced to put him down

They are great dogs. A little head strong but wonderful pets.
I have a friend who is a breeder. She has had one of her dogs at the Westminister dog show.
They can have back problems so you should not let them jump off things like furniture or the bed. And never let them get fat. As that is very hard on their back.
We had them when I was growing up and they were a great family pet.

I had a dauchsund for years. They are, IMHO the best dogs in the world! I LOVE those dogs and yes, they are relatively easy to take care of. :)

If you're looking for a dog that's easy to take care of, you shouldn't get a dog. You should be able to take care of the dog no matter what their temperment is. A dog is a dog, they will be dogs, no dog is easy to take care of. If you don't think you can take care of a dog, don't get one, you'll just make ur dog suffer because you don't want to take care of it

Dachsunds are very smart but bullheaded, mine housebroke in about 2 weeks. But if he doesn't want to do something he won't. They are great cuddle dogs, adore attention, and get along well with just about everyone and everything, I haven't seen anything my dachsund doesn't want to play with.

I have one so I have experience! well They can be difficult but its worth it!! they have separation anxiety so that's always a problem and you have to train them when they are young because they will never learn when they are older! but they are the most loving pet you can own! they are inside dogs and that's about it! :)
