Would you be repulsed by me? Would you avoid talking to me and wonder how I could ever let myself go like this? I only ask because I'm trying to shed my self-hatred and fear of other people. I figured I could recruit the good people of Yahoo! Answers to give me some perspective.

grlz4grlz06: It's funny you should say that. I actually have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. It basically means my immune system is attacking my thyroid gland. Thyroid controls metabolism (among other things) and so it's incredibly easy for me to gain weight and extremely difficult (I have to starve myself) to even lose a few pounds. Exercise has virtually no effect on my body fat, although I do gain muscle.

Absolutely not. If you're having a good time, or feel good about yourself, others are going to feel, and see it too. You need to always keep a positive attitude, especially around others. Sooo have fun fun fun, and I wouldn't worry about what people think as long as I was having a good time, or doing my buisness. Do yo thang girl!!! LoL :D

Sometimes I feel sorry for very overweight people but I am not repulsed by them. A person's weight has never stopped me from talking to them. There are some nasty people who make comments about other people's appearances. The funny thing about that is that the rude people often look and talk like the scrapings on the bottom of the gene pool. My only advice to you is to love yourself just the way you are. Self confidence and a nice smile are always more appealing than a sour attitude and six pack abs.

Thank you for the honest question. I will give you a very honest answer.
A year ago, I would have been extremely repulsed by you. I probably would have said or did something rude. I can be an asshole sometimes.
My new boss would make you look boney. He is a brilliant man, prioritizes his family, and I have a great deal of respect for him. To think that someone, outside of work, would treat him in a disrespectful way disgusts me.
If I saw you walking down the street, I would say hello and tell you to have a beautiful day!

I would probably notice you, but I'm not one to stare, plus a lot of people look that way in Kentucky. Yeah, I admit, it is strange you're 100 lbs more than me and I'm 5'8, but some people just have metabolism problems. You can't expect everyone to make fun of you just because you're overweight, but if you can find a way to be healthier, then good for you. The best thing to do is to win people over with your personality. Smile a lot.

You know, I probably wouldn't give you a second thought - that's not to be cruel but there are probably lots of people on the street and glancing around unless you were eating something that looked really good and then I'd think "that looks good" or "wow, they're having fun." You are who you are and there's nothing wrong with liking yourself for what you are instead of hating yourself for what you aren;t.

i know someone who is 5'6 a weighs over 300 lbs. she doesn't eat a lot at all. she has a thyroid disease. so i don't think anything of big ppl because i don't know their problem if they even have one. so the answer to your question is no i would not be repulsed by you. other ppl however don't have the open-mindedness and understanding that i have. i hope this answer helps you out somewhat.

I will still talk to you but you are a little overweight and you should see a doctor and figure out a way to lose weight like exercise or go on a diet. And you should check out some sites that show weight charts.

You would have to wear a bright red hat so I would know who you are among the other overweight people that are everywhere.
I am not repulsed by large people. Some of my favorite people on Earth are morbidly obese.

I don't judge people based upon their appearance. If I saw you having a good time kicking a dog I might be repulsed by you, but not if you were just hanging out.
