They are doing a background check. It takes that long because the agencies that they check with are a little preoccupied with looking for real criminals so they put requests like yours on the back burner. Otherwise, someone that perhaps has a criminal record will be permitted to buy a gun. Problem is real criminals can go down the street and buy an illegal gun and not wait at all. But, honest, hard working Americans, covered by the 2nd Amendment's right to bear arms, have to wait until they are checked out/and approved to be able to legally buy a gun.

Did that make sense to you?

Since 9-11, I think that everyone is more cautious and rightly so...Yes, you should definitely be checked out if you want a gun permit and if it takes 6 months, well, you just wait 6 months. I think it is a good law.

Yeah, the fear-mongering government assumes anyone who wants a gun must be about to go on a killing spree. Nevermind that the vast majority of people aren't deranged killers and consistent statisical evidence has shown that more guns = less crime. Such logic doesn't work in the fear-based world of politics.

They need to check your back ground they will interview your neighbors, people who know you... They need to be sure they are giving a gun permit to some one responsible. Is a normal procedure. In Puerto Rico could take 'til 2 years.

No. while you're sixteen you stress with an instructor for 6 hours, then you extremely stress with a make certain or mom or father that has to have had his license for over 4 years and is over 21. do this for 6 MONTHS and you receive your elementary license.

Because moronic liberals do not want you to protect yourself. They figure you will get tired of waiting and give up. The worthless brady bill is shot down here in Fla. We can pack a weapon in our car and carry it at all times( as long as your not some deadbeat). Thanks jeb fo rmaking this a safe state.
