The Cherokee has most advantages, though the Trailblazer is a little better on gas in V8 trim (I think). Everythign else goes to the Cherokee inlcuding resale value.

You have not provided enough information for an accurate answer. What year of each vehicle? What motors are you looking at? Gas mileage, power and reliability will go to the Chevy almost every time, room depends on interior options. As far as looks, they are in the eyes of the beholder.

The Jeep is a better vehicle. Look at projected resale value and that tells the story.

Out of these two, I'd take Cherokee, although they are pretty much the same in terms of quality and fuel consumption.
Taking into consideration that gas prices will likely to continue rising, look for something more economical - check Honda CR-V for example - it's versatile, roomy, fairly economical, and it has good resale value.

The CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER for sure. I had a Jeep Grand Cherokee and it SUCKED. I bought it instead of a Trailblazer and really regreted it just one month after the purchase. Here is a list of problems I had with my Jeep before it reached 65,000 miles:

-Heated seat in drivers seat quit working.
-Heater and Air Conditioner quit.
-Fan belt broke at 47,000 miles (they usually go 100,000+ miles).
-Tyrods had to be replaced.
-Boots had to be replaced.
-Engine sounded like it was going to blow up.
-Engine reved up without me touching anything.
-Oil leaks.
-Speakers went out.
-Tried to quit if I didn't use Premium gasoline.
-Battery terminals rusted apart.

the trailblazer (about to get axed by gm) has received horrid customer satisfaction ratings and reliability reports.
