My daughter is turning one next month and I have no clue what I should get her. Any suggestions on good toys that she will actually play with?

Her first birthday is an exciting time. Get her a toy or two but also get her something she can keep with her forever and maybe even pass on to her daughter someday when she turns one. How about making a quilt out of her old baby clothes? Or getting a small rocking chair and painting cute things and maybe even her name on it. Her first birthday only comes once!

Yeah, the balls are a great idea, my daughter has always loved rolling a ball around. For my daughter's birthday the big gift I got her was the gobble n' go hippo by Fisher Price. She can use it to help practice walking, or ride it. As for the memory of her first birthday, I got her a special first birthday Precious Moments figurine to display on a shelf in her bedroom. My daughter also got stacking cups, clothes, and I don't remember what else.

My daughter received a ride on Elmo car for her birthday. It's made of plastic, has a steering wheel and the seat opens up to store stuff in. She sits on it and uses her legs Fred Flinstone style to move around. She's two and a half now and still loves it.

Anything that makes noise and is easy to use...brightly colored stuff...stuffed animals that are soft but not really "fuzzy" (chenille fabric toys are great), walking bike toys (look like little bikes but they push them by a handle and can also ride on them- my daughter started walking after using one at the docs office when she was one)...letter blocks (big ones-my daughter LOVED them at that age)....soft baby dolls.

as the lady above me said.. my sister has gotten balls for her brithday and christmas every since she was that age becuase how much she loved them. We have her squishy balls, and light up ones and bouncy ones and then the kind that are in the Mcdonalds playground along with a tub thing for them all kinds of diffrent balls.. Oh lord she thought they were just great, and she still does. Theres millions of places all over the internet where you can buy huge amount of balls in bulk so you dont have to go quater by quater in a machine.. and they are much cheeper off the internet.

For my daughter's first birthday she got sooo much stuff but I remember she got one of those big plastic cars and dug it. Also, all time fav movie, Finding Nemo, Sidewalk chalk. I'm actually planning her 3rd birthday and now she wants firetrucks, airplanes and anything princess. Talk about all across the board.

Playskool has a lot of nice toys.. i've also seen a little table type thing that had elmo and other characters and pressing buttons would make elmo sing and tilt his head.. the kids i tend to absolutely love it.

My daughter's 1st birthday was on July 18th (a week ago) and the present she loved the most was BALLS just small enough for her to grab, but big enough not to be a choking hazard. You'd be surprized how long they can be entertained by a ball! Try it, it's inexpensive!

FOR MY OLDEST DAUGHTER HER FAVORITE TOY ON HER FIRST BIRTHDAY WAS THE DORA COWGIRL. IT WIGGLES AROUND AND SINGS SHE STILL HAS IT AND PLAYS WITH IT DAILY AND SHE IS 3.5
MY OTHER DAUGHTER JUST TURNED 1 AND WE GOT HER THE SHOUT ELMO AND SHE LOVES IT.
SO I WOULD SAY ANYTHING THAT SINGS AND DANCES IS A WINNER.
