Clearly, I used the term 'we' incorrectly...

I am disgusted at how the news gravitates to shocking headlines of war damage and innocent civilian deaths -- never mind that it is a war in an urban population center -- and misses the point that there are things worth fighting for in this world -- like freedom and security -- there is a right and a wrong. Collaterol damage is a fact of life in war...unpleasant...but unavoidable. Had the terrorists never got a foothold in Lebabnon...had they never kidnapped soldiers...had they not showered rockets on the Israeli population, then Beruit might still be standing. So who is ultimately to blame here?

Be careful how you say 'we', white man! Many of us do expect to see collateral damage, especially when we start returning fire in populated areas. These bleeding heart liberals are the ones complaining, but that's another story.

When you have an enemy as vile as the one Israel is fighting, an enemy with no regard for human life, one can expect to get lured into a collateral damage situation, yet four out of five of the pathetic no brainers that offer an answer, will blame Israel. That should be big enough reason not to take these answers too seriously.

liberal "peaceniks" expect the government to make the right decisions. We don't expect a war to fought with no collateral damage, we'd rather stick to only extremely necessary wars like Afghanistan.. Do you hear Liberals complaining much about that. Only because we still didn't get Osama.. Or at least I'm still mad about that, while all you "patriotic" republican's who'll never forget the lesson's learned from 9/11 already forgot about the man who is responsible. Way to act like you give a damn!

The media when they show pictures cause's people to worry about collateral damage. In World War 2 they didn't have reporters on the ground in Japan and Germany and during battles. The bombing of cities in Germany and fire bombing of Japan caused probably a million civilian deaths but you didn't hear anyone complain about that.

Now if one bomb misses a target and hits a school in session god forbid. War is messy, people die, so everyone needs to get over it.

When "tree-hugger's" play the collateral damage card. It is simply to make a war look bad.

When Radical Muslims hide behind citizens, the USA and Israel are butchers
When Radical Muslims target innocent citizens, they are freedom fighters.

makes no sense at all.

"We" don't expect that; the liberal "peaceniks" do, but they are unrealistic in ALL of their expectations of war. It is a sad, unfortunate fact of war that innocents will be lost, buildings and infrastructure will be destroyed, and that even with the "crowning" of a "winner" there will be significant damage to their side as well. Most of us live in reality and understand that, especially after our history lessons on WWI, WWII, and Vietnam. Anyone who doesn't expect that is living in a fantasy world.

What do you mean, "we"?

As a retired veteran of 28 years, I know that no war can ever be conducted without collateral damage. But we in the U.S. try our best to minimize it, unlike our many opponents and detractors.

Friend! With a deep sigh I can smell the foul smell in your question. No body is kidding on any one, possibly you are trying one, with your question. Now I put it like this " Can Chechniyan terrorists fight with no collateral damge to Russia and self. Also who is kidding on whom?"
