I have had cats all my life, and I just recently had my little girl fixed. It is recommended that you get it done before 6 months because they can start to have kittens at that age. I take my cats to a cat clinic that deals with only cats and they say 4-6 months is the best time to do it. Good luck!!

Usually pretty young, your vet will know for sure but it's less than 1 year. Probably something like 3 months old. But check with your vet. But I think they like to do it when they are really young because then they heal much much faster.
Best of Luck to you and your kitty.
P.S. They will eat a lot once they are fixed... we have a male cat that once fix just ate and ate and ate. He is about 4 years old now and weighs 24 lbs. One Big Cat.

They do it a lot younger now. My kittens were fixed when I got them at 12 weeks and 14 weeks (they got fixed the day before they came home). I think they just want them to be over a certain weight a lot of the time.

I got mine spayed at 6 months. oh, and after you get her spayed she will begin to eat like there's not tomorrow. so you may have to put her on a diet if necessary. my cat is 2 years old now and she already weighs about 15 lbs. watch out for that after she's fixed.

As soon as your vet will do the operation. I would recommend no later than five months, although six is the 'standard.' Some vets will go early as three. Cats can get pregnant before six months. I have seen it with my own eyes!

Most won't do a spay until she's at least 3 months old, or at least 2 pounds. if it's a boy, he can be neutered as early as 6 weeks. Neutering isn't as invasive as spaying

As mentioned before, you should ask your vet. The sooner, the better! We had our cat fixed too late and he is unplayful and very mean to outsiders.
