I was at the National Gallery of Ireland in Dublin a few weeks ago, and a painting really caught my eye. I didn't have pen or paper on me, so I didn't write down who painted it. It's definitely called 'Self Portrait', and it is a picture of just a young man. It was one of the first paintings I saw, coming out of one of the two cloakrooms. It was on the same floor as the cloakrooms. Later, I wrote down that 'John Sleator' or 'John Sleador' had painted it, so the name of the artist must be something like that. This is really a longshot, but does anyone know what painting I'm trying to find? Thanks!

The only Irish artist that I can find with a similar name is James Sinton Sleador (1889 - 1950) There isn't much about him on the Internet. Check 'sources' below for the only references I could come up with.

You might want to contact the gallery itself and ask them. Their website is:-

and the email address is:-
artgall@eircom.net
