Why do girls love roses so much?

I know, it's the thought that counts, but come on, they're just flowers, they really don't smell like anything more than dirt, and they die in weeks if you're lucky. If a girl gave me flowers, I would smile, but I would def. think to myself "What the **** am I going to do with these?" before never calling her again.

Note: The key to a guys heart is food and videogames...oh and tickets to sporting events. Take notes ladies.

I personally hate getting flowers for all of the reasons you stated above. Roses are a generic gesture that to me says "I didn't take the time to get to know you so here are some flowers because all girls like them"

Because of the commercial industry. They teach us from a very young age that roses are beautiful, and girls should get roses because they are just as beautiful as the rose, of course, blah blah blah.
If it is because of the rose itself, then why does each color means differently! and if you love one, it must be red!! Isn't a rose by any color, is still a rose!!!

I like flowers and all, but there is another way to look at it. If a rose means love, and they don't last very long! does that means you don't expect much out of the one you love, and his love too will not last very long!?!? think about it! ;)

I'm a sucker for roses. They smell sweeter than any other flower, they come in so many different colors, and I just love them. I buy them for myself, because my boyfriend thinks it is silly to buy something that will only die. He makes up for that in a lot of other ways, though, so it's okay. As for the key to his heart, I just get naked, that's all he requires.

Actually, not all girls, at least not me. I think flowers, especially roses, are the biggest waste of money there is. What the hell am I gonna do with it? Put it in a vase so it dies in a couple of days? What's the point to that? Just leave the flowers in the garden where they belong, save your money and buy me a box of chocolates. Now that's something I can't resist, chocolate.

If flowers were cars a rose is like a mercedes. So when a girl gets a rose it's like the guy is telling her that he thinks she's as pretty as a rose, smells as sweet as a rose, is delicate like a rose, etc. It's like saying we are the most special to him

Because a girl's mental make-up concerning guys, is that we LOVE for you to pay attention to us! Giving us flowers, smiling at us, stroking our cheek, all those little things that guys don't care about, we like... Guys, on the other hand, would rather that we go around in a hot outfit, then tell them that we will buy them a new Xbox.LOL.

I have no clue. I'm a female and if someone gives me roses its nice and all, but I'd prefer they spent that money on a video game or something I can actually USE. Flowers are flowers...save the money and buy me the Elder Scrolls.....LOL

It's the thought that counts... and as soon as you understand that, the whole gift-giving thing becomes a piece of cake! You don't give a gift to make YOU happy, you give it to make the recipient happy. Men like beer and video games, women like flowers and jewelry... men and women just have different interests.

I like sunflowers more but roses are romantic. its like giving someone a card. its all hallmark trying to get money. someone is trying to cash in on this love thing. so roses smell different and yet they die so if you never call her again and her roses are dead she is left with nothing so she won't think of you cause her gift is dead too.

I sure as hell don't care for roses! I like daisies. Roses are just too easy! Key to a girl's heart is find out what they like first then suprise them with whatever it is!
